Back Forty Artisan Cheese www.artisancheese.ca In 2018 Back Forty started making cheeses with raw water buffalo milk and introduced the new Calabogie Blue Cheese and Little Antoines.

Founded in 2000, Back Forty is a small creamery, cheese shop, and tasting bar located on a farm in the hamlet of Mississippi Station Ontario. Using traditional old world methods and 100% natural unpasteurized sheep’s milk, each cheese is made by hand in small batches and then carefully tended to and aged from two to 12 months. In our petite fromagerie we produce six ewe’s milk cheeses: Flower Stat

ion, Madawaska, Bonnechere, Highland Blue, Ompah, and Pecorino Verona. In addition to select quality restaurants and fine food retailers across Ontario, you can purchase Back Forty Artisan Cheese direct from Jeff and Jenna Fenwick at their dairy and cheese shop. The Cheese Shop and Tasting Room is open Fridays from 3pm-7pm and Saturdays from 11am- 6pm. The new outdoor kitchen and tasting bar now serves a seasonal farm-to-table menu, including wood-oven pizzas, and the newly licensed riverside patio features Ontario craft beer, cider, and wine.

What a weekend!
Thank you to our incredible staff, vendors, volunteers, and everyone who came out to make this year's Curds & Cooks such a memorable event. Your support and enthusiasm are what make this festival so special, and we're so grateful to everyone who was part of it.

We'll be back to our regular menu and hours this weekend, Friday and Saturday, 12:00-8:00pm

Join us this Friday evening for live music from singer-songwriter Trent Yule, starting at 5pm, along with our wood-fired pizza, small plates, artisan cheese, and a relaxing evening on the farm.

Beer-Battered Deep-Fried Cheese Curds are back this Saturday for Curds & Cooks!

Here's what else you have to look forward to:

•Our full selection of sheep's milk cheeses and guided tastings throughout the afternoon
• Craft beverages from some of Ontario's finest producers, including Revel Cider, Slake Brewing , Kin Vineyards and Artizen Beverage Co.
•Delicious food from local chefs and vendors
•Live music all afternoon from Aurora's Reef and Roots Movement Band
•A chance to meet the makers behind your favourite local products.
•Relax on the farm for the day and see the animals in the pasture, including the newborn Highland calves.

A few things to know before you arrive:

•Admission is free, all are welcome.
•The event is rain or shine
•Dogs are welcome but must remain on leash at all times and kindly leave if they are barking persistently.
•Please bring cash as some vendors may not take cards with spotty cell service on the lawn.
• No outside food or beverages permitted.

We will have altered hours and menu this Saturday for the event, serving festival fare made with our cheeses, garden produce, and farm-raised meats from 12-6pm.

We will be open this Friday with a slim version of our regular menu, open our regular hours of 12-8pm (kitchen closes at 7:30).

Father’s Day weekend calls for pizza & pints!

Join us Friday & Saturday from 3–6pm for half-price pints featuring Cold Bear’s Ottawa Valley Lager and Perth Brewery’s IPYAY! 0% IPA.

Pair them with our sourdough pizzas, made with our own sheep’s milk cheeses and seasonal ingredients, and settle in for a relaxed afternoon at the farm.

We’re so excited to welcome you back! Back Forty’s Shop & Bistro opens for the season on May 29th.

Join us every Friday and Saturday from 12–8pm (new extended hours) right through the fall. We’ll be serving up our farm-to-table menu, pouring some of the best Ontario craft beverages, and stocking the shop with our sheep’s milk cheeses alongside a curated selection of local provisions.
