ost delectable flavours of Pakistani Punjabi food to Canada. Desi Eh has been founded by the accomplished and seasoned chef / restaurant owner , Nadeem Salman Shaikh. He is the President and co-founders of Kara Mia, Canada's first Halal Italian restaurant. After much dedication and research, the dream of Desi Eh was brought to life. The drive and concept behind Desi Eh is simple. Toronto is a city of food lovers, but Halal desi food, specifically the Pakistani food realm has been largely neglected and unappreciated. Authentic flavors of the Punjabi arena have not fallen through on the customer`s plates. The team`s extensive research showed that the required expertise, know-how and passion for delivering delicious Pakistani food was little to none in Canada. Keeping in mind the high demand for desi food that echoes the original flavors from back home, Desi Eh`s team has set out to conquer the hearts and minds of food lovers across Canada. The name, Desi Eh, has been created keeping in mind the interesting blend of two beautiful worlds and cultures. Scrumptious flavours are not made in one day. It takes years of expertise, the perfect ingredients and a whole lot of heart. During the development and inception process of Desi Eh, its team ventured to take tips from the best. The team located and met up with some of the most skillful chefs in their particular food genres in Pakistan. One such place was `Sholay Restaurant` in Lahore, where they were generous enough to share some of their secrets to making barbecue and crispy naans. In Multan, centuries old traditions of making chicken karahi were shared over at 'Tasty Karahi', the leader in its specialty karahi dishes. After working with some of the most experienced chefs in Punjabi food arena, Desi Eh intends to bring zesty magic to your plates. The food prepared at Desi Eh is hard-core Punjabi and is created in a typical Punjabi style of cooking. All spices are prepared in-house with a carefully calibrated process of grinding and mixing to bring out the most in Punjabi flavors. It goes without saying that we take our spices very seriously! The backend of the restaurant is as Canadian as is the food Pakistani. With a hygienic, and high quality system operating behind the scenes, Desi Eh intends to deliver professional and efficient service to its customers. Latest techniques and equipment suited for the North American restaurant business will be employed. A hybrid service platform will be brought forward where table service and self-service, both will be utilized accordingly. Desi Eh has a delicious list of main dishes. We plan to bring sizzling spices of Karahi in the forms of chicken karahi, mutton karahi, chicken hari mirch and dhaba karahi. Dhaba karahi is unique for its roadside dhaba flavors that are made by villagers in Pakistan. Chikkar cholay (Channa or Chickpea Masala) is a heartwarming recipe passed down from cholay experts in
Punjab. Barbeque dishes such as seekh kebabs and Malai boti will translate the unmatched flavors brought all the way from Lahore. Another highlight in the menu is the special Biryani for all rice lovers out there. And where there are zesty recipes to tickle your taste buds, there are also creamy desserts such as the ever famous khoya kheer and the flavoursome Gajrela, both essential items in the list of Punjabi sugary sweet dishes.
