Copper Market is back this weekend!
For us, it’s about gathering friends and neighbors together and giving a platform to the skilled artisans right here in our area. We’re really proud of the group of vendors we’ve pulled together this year. Come wander, chat with the makers, and enjoy mulled wine and pizza.

We’re all about local love at The Penny! ☕️❤️ That means, from the pastry case to the coffee in your cup, we’re dedicated to sourcing from amazing vendors right in our community.

We’re so excited to introduce our newest local partnership: handmade bagels from a talented woman right here in Mission! We’re transitioning over, so as of today, our Jalapeño Cheddar, Everything, and Sesame bagels are all made by her. (Stay tuned for an announcement when the rest of our bagel lineup goes local as well!)

But that’s not all! Our local vendors include:
in Abbotsford for our gluten-free pastries.🥐
The one and only Jamie, our in-house baker, for our other sweet treats. 🍰
right next door for all our tea 🫖
for all our coffee, including a custom espresso blend made just for us!☕️
And various local heroes for our cold drinks.🧃

We’re always looking to grow our local family! Have a vendor you love? Send your suggestions to [email protected] or DM us! We’re always open to sampling and supporting more local talent.

This month we are sipping for the Watershed Watch Salmon Society.
WWSS is a local “science-based charity working to defend and rebuild B.C.’s wild salmon”.
WWSS works to keep Canadians informed and provides information & avenues to advocate for our wild salmon. Their work also looks like watchdogging, working with First Nations to support the commercial development of sustainable fisheries, and showing up as a voice for wild salmon preservation at committees and caucuses.
This October, $3 from every Salted Caramel Apple Cider (with pumpkin spice whipped cream) sold at the Penny will go towards the Salmon Society.
Come in and join us in supporting the preservation of our wild salmon.

“When the present does not recognize the wrongs of the past, the future takes its revenge. For that reason, we must never, never turn away from the opportunity of confronting history together - the opportunity to right a historical wrong.” Governor General Michaëlle Jean at the relaunch of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada:

Today is Truth and Reconciliation Day.  It’s a day that creates pause to consider the difficult stories of our indigenous neighbours and our willingness to be part of a reconciled future.

As we learn about our own blindspots and how we can be helpful in sincere movement toward healing, we’d like to suggest the following:

    1.     Introspection (how do the stories I’ve heard about residential school abuses affect me?)
Consider reading a book about local injustices from our shared history.  “Amongst God’s Own” by Terry Glavin.

    2.    Learning

Read the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: 94 Calls to Action (PDF) (https://ehprnh2mwo3.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Calls_to_Action_English2.pdf)
