To our incredible Lunenburg community and summer visitors,
As we wrap up our very first summer season in town, we wanted to pause, take a deep breath, and share a few words from the heart.
This season was a whirlwind in the best and hardest ways. To be completely transparent, we were often full, overwhelmed, and understaffed. Like so many of our fellow local restaurants, recruiting talented staff was a major hurdle this year. There were days when we simply ran out of capacity and had to turn guests away, and times when we know we weren't always the best, warmest versions of ourselves. For any moment where our service fell short or felt unwelcoming, we are truly sorry.
We’ve also heard the questions about our operating hours and why we weren't open longer. The reality is, we just didn't have the hands to make extended hours possible, as much as we would have loved to. To be honest, I am pretty burnt out. Between working on the floor, running the kitchen, and handling all the behind-the-scenes ordering, payroll, and management, it meant long stretches without breaks or real quality time with my family. If you noticed our social media go quiet, that was simply one more plate I was trying to balance that had to be put down during the peak summer rush.
We’ve learned so much from this first summer, and we have very clear takeaways about what our team needs to thrive. Looking ahead to next year, our biggest hope and goal is to recruit a larger support team so we can comfortably extend our hours and give everyone the experience they deserve.
As we transition into fall and our wonderful student staff head back to school, we are navigating staffing constraints once again. We kindly ask for your continued patience with us during this shift.
