Our last MACC of the Summer season was a special one! 🔥

We welcomed the end of August with a sizzling class - Chef Nate and Chef Mac lent their expertise in cooking some delicious Filipino classics, including fire-grilled Chicken and Pork skewers, Pancit Palabok, and some sweet Banana Lumpia.

Back to school, back to the kitchen. 🍂🍝

Our Monthly Kids and Teen Cooking Classes are back in September — and we're kicking off the fall season with a menu that makes the most of the harvest.

This month, young cooks will be making a roasted ratatouille pasta with parmesan pangrattato and an autumn kale salad with apples, carrots, pumpkin seeds, and maple-Dijon vinaigrette — fresh, seasonal, and genuinely delicious.

🎉 BONUS CLASS ADDED! 🎉

Our first two August cooking classes SOLD OUT, so we’ve added a third! Join Growing Chefs! Ontario for a Filipino Fiesta on Saturday, August 22, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.

Young chefs will make Chicken Pancit, Lumpia, and colourful Halo-Halo Cups while building cooking skills and exploring the rich flavours and food traditions of the Philippines!

We're so grateful to 4imprint Canada and their one by one® grant program for supporting Growing Chefs! Ontario with a promotional products grant. 🌿

With it, we were able to create some beautiful new physical marketing materials — including a brand new penguin sign and branded tablecloths for Londonlicious and GCO events — helping us show up a little more visibly for the community we love serving.

The one by one® program awards grants every business day to organizations making a difference — one small success at a time. Thank you, 4imprint Canada for helping us spread the word. 🍽️

Not every contribution comes in the same way — and this one came with a paintbrush and a lot of heart. 🎨

This summer, Chris Plouffe-Boisse of CPB Painting reached out to us after attending an end-of-program celebration at our Headquarters and noticing our building could use some exterior work. Chris — a London painter with over 20 years of experience — brought along his sons Julian and James to help, donating their time and trade to give our building a well-deserved facelift.

The family's connection to Growing Chefs! goes back several years, with both boys having participated in our culinary programming. Julian has since advanced through to our Advanced Culinary program, and credits the experience with building skills that carry into everything he does.

For Chris, giving back through the work he knows best was a natural choice:

"I wanted to choose to give back to an organization that's giving back to their community."

We're so grateful for this gift in kind — and for a family that shows up for their community the way they know how.

The August 7th Pizza Night menu is here — and the farm came through. 🌿🍕

This month's Fundraiser features produce straight from the Growing Chefs! Ontario farm alongside beautiful cheese from Monforte Dairy — and we think it shows.

A few highlights from the oven:

🌽 Esquites — charred corn, pickled jalapeño, queso fresco, cilantro,
🍑 Rose D'Amour — roasted peaches, speck, balsamic, basil,
🌶️ Piccante — nduja, charred shish*to peppers, hot fermented honey.

Plus charred eggplant salad, summer farm greens, and a fig leaf Swiss roll with caramel cream to finish. Hungry yet?

Ever wondered what one of our ADULT classes looks like? 🔥🌿

Spatchcock chicken with chermoula, coal-roasted fingerlings, roasted eggplant with smoked yogurt and za'atar, and a bumbleberry cast iron skillet crumble to finish — there's something about cooking outside over an open flame that just makes everything taste better.

Our third wood-fired pizza fundraiser of the year, held at GCO HQ featuring seasonal pizzas, fresh Summer salads, and a sweet, Chef-crafted dessert! All proceeds support Growing Chefs! Ontario's food education programs in our community.

🔥 Fire & Feast Pizza Making Classes — August 14th & 15th
A special hands-on outdoor cooking experience celebrating the peak of Ontario's growing season — with locally sourced ingredients, great company, and a chance to get to know the community non-profit behind the Londonlicious festival (on now until August 16th). Available at a special Londonlicious price of $85 per person.

SOUPer Bowl 2026 is officially on the books — and tickets are now available.
On Thursday, October 8th, Growing Chefs! Ontario, Urban Roots London, and Clayworx: Ceramic Arts Learning Centre are coming together for our annual collaborative fundraiser — a communal lunch of homemade breads and chef-crafted soups made with fresh, locally grown ingredients, served in a hand-picked artisan bowl from Clayworx that you take home with you.

After lunch, guests vote for their favourite soup — crowning the next SOUPer Bowl Champion 🏆 — and there are door prizes and silent auction items up for grabs along the way.

Two seatings available: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
📍 Growing Chefs! at The Grove, 900 King Street
🎟️ $65 per person — includes your meal, your bowl, and a donation split between three incredible London nonprofits.

The garden is growing and we could use some extra hands. 🌱

Our Farm Site Drop-In Volunteer Hours are back every Tuesday in July — no experience necessary, just a willingness to get outside and get your hands dirty.

Drop by 300 Tartan Drive any Tuesday from 4:00–6:00 PM and spend an hour or two with our Garden Team learning about urban agriculture, what we're growing this season, and how it all connects to the food education work we do across London.
