A tribute to the residents of Gander, Newfoundland for their kindness to all stranded travelers due to 9-11-2001.

September 11, 2001. We remember. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

On a day remembered for unimaginable tragedy, there were also incredible acts of kindness.

When U.S. airspace closed, Canada helped safely receive hundreds of diverted flights carrying tens of thousands of passengers.

In Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, a community of about 10,000 people suddenly welcomed more than 6,500 stranded passengers from 38 flights. People opened schools, community centres, kitchens and their homes to complete strangers.

Today, 25 years later, I choose to remember both the lives that were lost and the ordinary people who stepped forward to help when the world suddenly changed.

A reminder that even on humanity’s darkest days, kindness still matters.

Never forgotten. ❤️
