We had a blast at Soupfest! For me it's more of the behind the scenes that I like to get caught up on. Such as, call me crazy but I swear Wes from The Loaded Spud was hired at the Diner for our night shift some 18 yrs ago the same time as me. Nice to see him operating his own place. I didn't get a chance to talk to him, I think his wife was doing all the heavy lifting today and he was imitating Pokaroo π. Spencer from Pie Eyed Monk who seems to win or place every year is well on his way to being a Red Seal Chef another former member, looking good brother. Twisted Indian would've won most aromatic for sure not former members just current customers π
Airport View Restaurant wasn't there this year, my former (even if it was a short time) boss hope to see you next year, Ally. Same as Corner Bites Eatery former coworker (whom in retrospect I really wish had stayed on for my first couple years) who was a cornerstone of the diner, I hope to see you next year also.
As for who won what.... you'll have to check somewhere else, lol. I can tell you that anyone who has a loved one at Adelaide Place Retirement Community or Bloom, they are eating well. Based on my attendees poll, all fantastic soups this year, huge success in my opinion. shootout to Kawartha Lakes Soupfest for the orchestrating and persistence (also please pass on my thanks to our volunteer and tell him that he has a meal for him and guest on the house whenever, just mention it to whomever upon arrival).
I'll be out front tomorrow so I'll see some of you in the morning!
