Are you a super fan of Leef and Stem? Do you love Steve and Kahla? Do you crave vegan food? Do you believe in young entrepreneurs trying to make a difference in their hometown? If you do, you can help Leef and Stem emerge from their current shutdown. We can be the village and the friends that Leef and Stem need at this time! The best way to help the business is to purchase gift cards to bridge the gap for Leef and Stem as they fight their way thru this current challenge. Christmas is coming, consider buying a gift card for everyone on your list, friends, family, acquaintances, the mailman, the stranger on the street a local university student, the guy who works at Value Village, the guy in the bank line up who looks hungry 😂. Consider getting 52 gift cards for a weekly lunch in 2021. This is one of the best ways you can assist Leef and Stem in this current crisis. If you want to support Steve and Kahla’s family and the young teens they have taken in directly, please see the Go Fund me we have set up for them. Let’s get this family and our favourite vegan restaurant thru this difficult time so that the they can be open again sooner then later. Soon we can all meet together when they re-open and flood them with love, and then, Steve will feed us. We can do this!

Steve and Kahla are the owners of Leef and Stem Culinary in Langley. I am their friend, and I have taken over their social medias to tell their story and seek help from our community to make sure that Leef and Stem can once again open.

Steve and Kahla are young, creative, tenacious entrepreneurs creating a unique food experience using whole foods that are plant based to facilitate a healthy food experience. There are very few restaurants with this model around and we are lucky enough to have this culinary company in our community. In 2020 Leef and Stem battled far more than their fair share of challenges, including the break ins, a world pandemic and now, a fairly catastrophic flood that has closed the doors on the building they lease space in, until further notice.

It is unknown at this point how the damage to this heritage building is going to impact the restoration efforts, it is likely going to take a number of months before the restaurant can open again. Currently there is no water in the building and an uncertain reality beyond this. The remediation and repairs to the building are extensive and very costly. This leaves Steve unable to open his doors at this time.

Steve and Kahla have 4 kids. When the pandemic hit, they opened their home to two youth who have lived with them ever since lockdown. This is a family that deeply cares about people who are hurting.

Do you love Steve and Kahla? Are you a super fan of Leef and Stem? Do you believe that small business is the backbone of our beautiful city? If so, we need you to help us get Leef and Stem thru this hurdle, they have already successfully battled, a world pandemic and 3 break-ins, they need their village to step in and help with the current closure because of the flood.

Did you know we have a pizza add-ons menu? You can add other yummy ingredients to our existing pizzas and make it your own. Ingredients range from .50 to $3. This is the Alfredo + lentils, chickpeas, sun dried tomato muhammara and fresh shallots added.

Another favourite is the Marg Supreme - regular margarita + mushrooms, shallots and lentils.

Marriage. It is otherworldly. I am so incredibly thankful for our marriage and the depths of our relationship. We really learn to love each other more fully every day. Today we had a day defined by chaos. We ended up in the ER twice with two separate members of our family for totally unrelated reasons and nothing to do with COVID.

Despite our stressful day, we decided to love each other, be playful, and joke it off. Swipe to see a prank I copied from and how Steve responded. 🥰 love him.

We thought we’d give our new followers a run down of our pizzas and what sets them apart. Using house made h**p + pumpkin seed cheese, and 100% plant based ingredients, our pizza toppings are safe for us those irritated by most major allergens. Our crusts (made by ) are a millet, buckwheat and brown rice fermented sourdough with an unbelievable texture. These pizzas are not just vegan and gluten-free. They are healthy, nutritious and balanced meals. Pizza on the daily is an option. Just saying.
