The Lodge opened its doors for the season this past weekend.

Bow Lake is shifting again — from snow and stillness into turquoise water, alpine trails, and long evenings gathered around the table.

There is something special about the first weekend back: rooms eagerly awaiting our first guests, meals beginning again in the Elkhorn Dining Room, and visitors returning to the quiet rhythm of this place.

As we welcome the season ahead, there are still a limited number of opportunities to stay with us this summer and fall. And for those already dreaming further ahead, bookings for 2027 are now open.

The next chapter at Bow Lake begins...

Introducing, The Chalet at Bow Lake, a careful continuation of the vision that has helped create this place for generations: a place of welcome, rest, and connection in the heart of the most extraordinary landscapes in the Canadian Rockies.

Continuing the legacy of Jimmy Simpson and guided by the same responsibility that shaped the restoration of the historic lodge, The Chalet is designed with deep consideration for the stewardship of the land, the property's history, and the guests who will experience Bow Lake for years to come.

During the 2023 restoration of The Lodge, the room count was reduced to create a more thoughtful guest experience within the original building. The Chalet introduces a carefully considered number of new accommodations, including different configurations and rooms with the most spectacular views of Bow Lake, the Wapta Icefield, the surrounding forest, and the mountains beyond.

But more than that, The Chalet represents a continued commitment to caring for this place with respect for the past, responsibility for the future, and a deep understanding that every next chapter at Bow Lake must honour what came before.

When Jimmy Simpson first saw Bow Lake, he imagined something simple.

A place to return to.
A place to rest between journeys.
A place where the mountains could be experienced slowly, not rushed past.

What began as the idea of a “shack” became something much more enduring.

Over time, the Simpson family’s vision grew with the travellers, artists, guides, and guests who found their way to this shoreline.

The Lodge was never meant to stand apart from the landscape.

It was meant to belong to it.

That is the history we continue to honour — carrying forward a place of welcome, shaped by Bow Lake and built with care.

There are evenings that feel especially tied to a place.

On Tuesday, June 2, we invite you to gather at The Lodge for the opening evening of The Art at Bow Lake — an exhibition and sale of rare landscapes by Terri Kelly Moyers and John Moyers.

The artists will be in attendance, joined by Lisa Christensen, curator and art historian, for an evening that brings together art, history, dinner, and the landscape that inspired the collection.

The event is $130/person (includes a four-course dinner), or part of an overnight stay for guests of The Lodge.

The Art at Bow Lake arrives this season at The Lodge.

From June through October 2026, The Lodge at Bow Lake will host an exclusive exhibition and sale of original landscapes by Terri Kelly Moyers and John Moyers — two artists with a long connection to the Canadian Rockies.

Bow Lake has drawn artists for generations, from Carl Rungius and Walter Phillips to Peter and Catharine Whyte, and Jimmy Simpson himself. This collection continues that legacy with 30 original works displayed throughout The Lodge and available for purchase during the season.

Guests may view and purchase works during their stay. For those not visiting, enquiries may be made after June 1 at [email protected].

From time to time, we can accommodate one-night stays between longer bookings.

While a two-night stay allows for a more complete experience of The Lodge, if you'll be joining us for a shorter visit, we encourage you to arrive early, take in the trails and shoreline, and ease into the rhythm of Bow Lake. We’re always happy to store your bags while you explore ahead of check-in.
