🇨🇦 Stop 02: The Yukon

Our Great Canadian Breakfast Tour is heading north, and for our second stop, Chef has created an Eggs Benny unlike anything we’ve done before.

Meet the Elk & Bison Benny - a cranberry biscuit topped with elk & bison, two poached eggs and Yukon Gold potatoes, finished with a touch of fireweed honey. A little wild, a little sweet and definitely not your everyday Benny.

And because we're travelling, we're trying something new in the glass too: a Huckleberry Mimosa. 🥂

This is exactly what our Great Canadian Breakfast Tour is all about & taking inspiration from across this incredible country and having some fun with breakfast along the way.

☕ HAPPY NATIONAL COFFEE DAY!

Around here, coffee isn’t just something you drink with breakfast. It’s part of breakfast.

And when you pour as many cups as we do, what goes into them matters.

That’s why we’re proud to pour locally roasted Bean Scene coffee. Their veteran Probat roaster is still at the heart of the process, with each bean profile roasted artisan-style and guided by an experienced roaster, not simply left to a computer.

We’re pretty proud to call this incredible country home — and over the next 13 weeks, we’re celebrating it the way Sunny’s knows best: one breakfast at a time.

Starting tomorrow big welcome to Sunny’s Great Canadian Breakfast Tour — 13 weeks, 10 provinces, 3 territories and 13 breakfast features inspired by the flavours, ingredients and food traditions found from coast to coast to coast.

And where else would we start but right here at home? 💛

We’re kicking things off with a Candied Salmon & Leek Omelette, bringing some seriously West Coast flavour to the table. And because every good Canadian road trip deserves refreshments, there’s an Apple & Pear Mimosa along for the ride. 🍎🍐🥂

🏕️ SUNNY’S HAS GONE CAMPING!

The Sunny’s team has traded the diner for the great outdoors and headed to COOKSCAMP - a few days of food, learning, sharing and connecting with fellow industry folks.

That means the diner is taking a little break, but don’t worry - we’ll be back, refreshed and ready to
flip pancakes and pour more hot coffee on Saturday! 🥞☕️

We are open all weekend, but note that Monday (Labour Day) we are open 8:00 am - 1:00 pm.

After the fires we’ve seen across our region, there’s something pretty comforting about hearing that rain outside. Every drop feels like a welcome change.

And while Mother Nature does her thing, we’ll be doing ours - serving up hot, hearty breakfast to warm you right up. 🍳🥓☕️

The COFB community kitchen has been in full swing, thanks to incredible chefs who have generously volunteered their time to prepare meals for evacuees, first responders, and clients. Using ingredients solely from our food rescue program, they have been creating nutritious meals, snacks, and desserts - all made with creativity and care.

Our food rescue program operates 364 days a year, with our team picking up food from local retailers, sorting each item based on viability, and distributing food back into the community. The community kitchen has created a new way for us to make use of rescued food. Many of the fresh ingredients we receive are still perfectly good, but may have bruising, be nearing the end of their shelf life, or need to be used within a few days. Through our partial choice model, clients can have a grocery-store-like experience while picking up their hamper, choosing items that work best for their households. When certain ingredients need to be used quickly, our community kitchen helps ensure they are transformed into nourishing meals rather than going to waste.

Thank you to the chefs who have stepped up to help nourish our community. Your generosity has made a real difference. We are also grateful to Love Tito’s for donating the incredible soup kettle, which allows us to prepare larger batches of soup and rice at once and serve more people with every meal.
