This is a throwback.
Yes, I fit a family of 4 and all our belongings + an entire mobile coffee shop in a 4 door jeep for a family camp of 6 weeks.

I’ve done a few other things since then, but one thing remains, and this I am confident in, everyone has a story to tell, and a coffee is the gateway to that story. I will always be the guy, no matter what I do, that cherishes stories and people because eventually, I get to share mine and how grace has kept me alive to this day.

Forever grateful for serving over 1.7 million cups of coffee that were actually opportunities to listen to people over the past 18 years.

🙏 ❤️

Thankful to for giving me the opportunity for many summers

This is 42

• Another year has gone by, and it has been one of the most difficult ones, but yet im so thankful.

After losing a dear brother, the store front locations, losing my mom and 3 months later my grandmother, a hard turn left and re grafting was desperately needed.
• Through that grief, I was able to see who my friends and family were. Phone calls and texts, just to check in on me.
You know who you are.
• I was able to see once again just how strong my wife is and that she is still the hot water to my coffee, the jam to my PB, the cup to my tea, the true back bone.
• My faith in Christ is my true foundation and identity and those around me are cool with that and I’m at that point in my life to not worry about even posting it. Even as I lose followers by the day because of it.
• I have leaned that re doing things are ok! Even if it hurts.
• I have learned that I can seek help and it’s up to me to receive it. I am so thankful for the help I have been given.
• I have learned that my kids love me no matter what. Sure they didn’t understand the full extent of the business but, they love me through it all.
• I have learned that asking for help is ok!
• I have learned that I like farming and operating tractors and feeding our community in Kelowna through my full time job.

I have zero ideas what 2025 is going to bring, but this year has shown me that through my faith, through those that surround me and allow me to surround them, I can see through to the next day.
One day at a time.

🍻 to full body suits and long hair!
May grace and good coffee live on!

This photo.
2016. Vancouver.
The only coffee bar that season.
Never before worked so hard ( built a coffee shop on my own from scrap pallet wood under a tent on bark mulch ), been so exhausted and yet supported by so many!

13,000 people a day for 6 weeks was the average.
Streamlined one size: 8oz cups so that I knew exactly how much milk to use and cause that’s the quickest way to get through line ups.

Small menu: lattes, Americanos, HoCho’s, and London fogs/chai’s. Seems like a lot but each one was easy to prep from whom I sourced the ingredients from.
2 baristas on bar with the combo of till. Yes, I should have had more, but everything was bootstrapped. I borrowed staff from other cafe’s to make it happen and yes, I asked every manager or owner from which they came from for permission cause burning bridges is not in my blood stream.

I got so sick cause I overworked myself and it took me 3 months to recover. And yeah, my wife and I had two kids that were about 3 years and younger and she worked part time as a nurse while this was happening. 🙃

I can easily say that if I were to ever do this again, I know the things that I would never do & the things that I should do to make everything run more smoothly. But I look back at this photo and see someone who believed in a vision of a mobile coffee business being something great and I see a bunch of people surrounding me in the chaos to support me and as many ways as they could. ❤️
Im thankful. And I know that I can look back and see that I can do hard things. Like, really really hard things. But instead of having the entrepreneurial blinders on, I need to open my scope and allow others into the bigger picture.

This photo also holds a huge significance in my life because beside me is an old friend who passed away from Cancer not that long ago. I miss him as I know others do as well.

This opportunity couldn’t have been possible without the one coffee chat I got to have with who was crazy enough to allow me to pull this off, and to this day, I get to call her a dear friend! 🙌🏼 There will always be an Oat London fog for you my friend. Pull up!
