it doesn’t feel like it quite yet as we keep churning out food, but summer is winding down and so are we

this week we begin reducing our hours as our summer student staff head off to school

This week we will be open Wednesday through to next Monday, 7:30am to 3pm and next week we will be back down to five days a week: Thursday - Monday 7:30am to 3pm

We will also be closed on Labour Day, Monday September 7

the summer waffle is back!

this year we’re serving up a masa waffle, with crispy edges and a tender centre, topped with maple syrup, mascarpone whip, cherry-strawberry jam, candied malt pretzels and maple glazed basturma bacon (Egyptian style spiced bacon)

it’s not a bacon pancake, but we think it still hits all the marks

we have new benny bowl special for the Father’s Day crowd this weekend: a Louisiana-style pork brined, marinaded, braised and then finished in a white gravy, this pork is silken deliciousness resting on crispy roasted garlic potatoes, blistered cherry tomatoes, + lemony seared zucchini, and topped with two poached eggs, béarnaise sauce, chives, and crispy onions.

tomorrow we’re running a benny bowl special to celebrate all the mama’s

garlic and herb pan fries topped with two poached eggs, béarnaise, grilled asparagus or crispy bacon (or both) cilantro chutney and crispy onions

~ round out your celebratory brekky with a lemon meringue cream puff + a preserved limonata drink special (like lemonade, but a bit more fancy)

we have a couple menu items coming off soon and we wanted to give you heads up about their departure

the tartare flatbread, essentially an open faced and over sized pierogi will be on hiatus for a veggie burger with a good mix of grains, fresh and poppy acidic veg

and our chow-chow burrito, inspired by African American food ways with its hush puppies, beet chow chow, shredded chicken + white bbq sauce, has only been on the menu for the short while, but by early June we want to shift to a burrito that, again, is leaning into those fresh veg and bright acids for its crunch

all this is to say, come get these two menu items before they take a bow!
