At PSD, one thing you’ll probably never hear us say is,

“That’ll be extra because it’s gluten free.”

We made that decision a long time ago.

Whether you’re ordering regular or gluten free,
we believe you deserve the same experience,
the same value, and the same overflowing sandwich.
Safe shouldn’t cost more.

One thing we’ve heard from our celiac community
over and over is, “I just wish I could have my
sandwich on a panini like everyone else.”

We listened. ❤️

Our friends at Totally Gluten Free Bakery
have come through with an incredible new bun
that gives you the same style, size, and surface area
as our regular paninis. We’ll toast it in our dedicated
gluten-free toaster and pile it high with all the ingredients
your heart desires.

We don’t always change things when we get feedback
because some parts of who we are are non-negotiable.
But we always listen, and when we can make your
experience even better without compromising
what we believe in, we’re all in.

Coming soon… and we honestly can’t
wait for you to try it.

A huge thank you to our gluten-free community for trusting us, encouraging us, and helping us continue to grow.

We think you’re going to love this one.

There are some people who walk into your life
and instantly feel like they’ve always belonged.

That’s Sebastian.

From the moment we met him, our family connected
with him in a way that’s hard to explain.
He’s the epitome of humility, integrity,
and what community is all about.
His music isn’t just something you listen to-
it makes you feel something.
It’s honest, authentic, and a reflection
of the person he is. We truly couldn’t
imagine celebrating Patricia Street Deli’s
birthday with anyone else.

So we’re incredibly excited to welcome
Sebastian Barrera to PSD for a special
night of live music as we celebrate another
year of Patricia Street Deli.

🎶 Friday, July 17 | 7:00–9:00 PM

With a powerful voice, soulful guitar work, and dynamic
live looping, Sebastian blends bossa nova, flamenco,
and rumba into something warm, intimate, and
completely captivating. You’ll hear a beautiful
mix of covers and original music in Portuguese,
Spanish, and English.

We’d love nothing more than to celebrate
this milestone with all of you.

𝐓𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲-𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬.

Two years ago, we were celebrating
Patricia Street Deli turning 20.

We remember standing in a room full
of people thinking, 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘭𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦?

A few days later, we were packing our lives into vehicles, evacuating Jasper, not knowing if we’d ever come home. Not knowing if our business would survive.
Not knowing what our future looked like.

If someone had told us that night where we’d be today, we never would have believed them.

Life has a way of rewriting stories
when you least expect it.
Sometimes it tears the pages
right out of your hands.

But sometimes… if you’re unbelievably lucky
… people help write the next chapter with you.

Tomorrow we celebrate 22 years of Patricia Street Deli.

Not because we made it here on our own.

Because we were carried.

By our family.
By our staff.
By our customers who refused to let us disappear.
By the Jasper community.
By Edmonton, who welcomed us with open arms.
By our vendors who gave us grace.
By our suppliers.
By contractors and tradespeople
who built these walls.
By volunteers.
By Kickstarter Backers and donors.
By Servus Credit Union.
By musicians who filled this place with life.
By neighbouring businesses who cheered us on.
By every person who shared a post, bought a sandwich, sent an encouraging message, recommended us to a friend, purchased a Kindness Sandwich, hired us to cater, or simply walked through our doors and said, “𝘞𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬.”

You carried us.

When we didn’t know what tomorrow
looked like…you believed there would be one.

There were days when grief
was louder than hope.
Days when opening another box,
signing another invoice,
making another decision,
or smiling through another
conversation felt impossible.

But somehow, piece by piece,
person by person,
we kept going.

And now this little deli that started in Jasper
twenty-two years ago is alive again.

different.
scarred. marked by hardship,
loss and healing.
missing pieces.
but maybe even more rooted
in what mattered all along.
It was never just sandwiches.
It has always been people.

Community.

Connection.

the conversations
across a table.
the hugs.
the laughter.
the tears.
the feeling that for just a little while,
someone belongs.

If these last two years have taught
us anything, it’s this:

Buildings can disappear.
Plans can change overnight.
The future can look nothing like you imagined.

But kindness endures.
Community endures.
Love endures.

Tomorrow we’ll celebrate another birthday.
Not because twenty-two is a milestone.
But because every single year now feels like a gift.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Thank you for carrying our family
when we couldn’t carry ourselves.

We will spend the rest of our lives
trying to give even a fraction of that love back.

Happy 22nd birthday, Patricia Street Deli.

What an extraordinary story you’ve become.

LIVE MUSIC THIS WEEKEND!!

This weekend we’re honoured to welcome
John Goulet to Patricia Street Deli.

John picked up a guitar 61 years ago in Ottawa,
and music has been part of his life ever since.

From playing in bands like Green Garden, Iron Rule, and Captain Jack, to opening for touring acts and performing at outdoor concerts for crowds of more than 10,000 people, John’s musical journey has spanned decades. While attending Georgian College, he won the talent competition three years in a row and had the opportunity to jam with incredible musicians along the way.

After moving to Edmonton in 1980, John continued building his musical legacy, performing with local artists, recording music, and later joining the Wonitha Thomas Band, where they recorded two albums that are still available on Spotify and Apple Music. In 2008, he started his own band, Scooter, performing throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area.

Even after retiring from construction in 2018, John never put the guitar down. These days you’ll often find him at local open stages, encouraging and connecting with the next generation of talented musicians.

We’re so honoured to have John sharing his music in our house.

There are extraordinary people walking among us every day.

The business owner carrying
more than anyone knows.
The employee who quietly
makes everyone’s day better.
The friend who never stops showing up.
The parent holding everything together.
The neighbour who checks in.
The person navigating grief with incredible strength.
The boss who leads with heart.
The human who could simply use
a reminder that someone sees them.

We’d love to hear their story.

Tag someone in the comments and tell us why
you’d like us to celebrate them.
Big moments, small moments-it all matters.
We believe the quiet acts of kindness often
deserve the loudest applause.

Wendy and Glen will spend the next few days
reading every story and will choose one person
to receive a $50 Patricia Street Deli gift card.

More than anything, we’re doing this because
we love hearing your stories. They remind us that
behind every face is a human being carrying something, celebrating something, or making someone else’s life
a little brighter.

Let’s fill this comment section with the good in people. ❤️

We hear a lot of stories across our sandwich bar.

This week, a couple travelling from the U.S. to the Northwest Territories stopped in for sandwiches. They told us that every Canadian they had met along the way had shown them nothing but kindness.

We won’t lie… hearing that during Canada Day week made us incredibly proud.

Then they noticed our Kindness Sandwich poster.

They asked about it, smiled, and without hesitation quietly purchased 15 sandwiches for people they’ll never meet

Fifteen meals.

For strangers.

For a community that isn’t even their own.

But that’s what community really is - isn’t it?

It isn’t defined by borders, postal codes, or passports.
It’s found wherever people decide that someone
else’s well-being matters too

This week, as we celebrate Canada, we’re thinking
less about flags and fireworks and more about
the people who quietly make this country feel like home.

Thank you to our travelling friends for reminding us
that kindness has no nationality—it simply asks to be passed on.

If you’d like to leave a sandwich behind for someone having a hard day, we’d be honoured to help carry that kindness forward.

Because the beautiful thing about generosity
is that it rarely ends where it begins.
