Hi-fin loaches (also called Chinese Hi-fin Banded Sharks, Myxocyprinus asiaticus)—they’re one of the coolest and most unusual freshwater species you can stock you tank/pond.

Despite the name, they’re not actually a true loach. They belong to the suckerfish family and are closely related to carp.
Native to the Yangtze River basin in China, They bring that prehistoric, river-monster look but are gentle giants—perfect centerpiece fish for monster tanks or koi pond.

We stopped to check a monster fish store in Japan 🇯🇵. Even thought the store was small, surprisingly they had a big tank with some giants and a lot of cool fish in stock 🔥 .aqua

While on our trip to Asia, we got a call that a fisherman had caught a massive fish—and it was about to become lunch.

We went to see it for ourselves, and the moment we laid eyes on this beast, we knew we couldn’t let that happen. We bought him on the spot and brought him back to one of our facilities, where he could heal properly from his injuries.

What a truly magnificent creature. 🐟🔥

We had to jump into action to save this albino marble tiger shovelnose catfish.
We walked into the shop and found him floating upside down. We tried everything—water changes, meds, oxygen—but nothing worked.

As a last-ditch effort, we made the hardest call: surgery.
We carefully opened him up to see if we could give him one final chance.

It’s been 3 days now… and he’s active, swimming, and eating again ❤️
Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.
