We are a few days late on this one but it’s well worth the wait !!!!

Meet the iconic all girl group Destiny’s Chicken, this month’s Employees of the month!
Here we have Melanie, Penelope, and Stephanie enjoying a morning forage while belting some of their hits including “Cluckin’, Cluckin’, and Egglicious”. The neighbours know their songs well 😉
While often coming to the call of any one of the 3 names, they sure don’t respond to “GET THE HELL OUT OF THE GARDEN!” and take great pride in the craters they create, specifically the ones in our main walking paths.
This group of girls love long walks in the yard, daily spa treatments to keep themselves looking fresh (incase of being discovered for fame) and always competing to be lead singer. Dislikes include having to wait in the egg laying lineup, bluejays, and freshly installed perimeter fencing.

“Cause my eggs to egglicious for ya, babe”

A new month calls for a new employee of the month award!
Tho we havent given any for the last bit cause they were rather undeserving lol

Behold Barbara! As one of last year’s baby’s she has grown into one of the sassier girls that roam the yard and takes charge of her fellow feathered friends.

By her demands it’s “Barb” for short, enjoys an extra dusty dirt bath daily, only high quality sunflower seeds, a private nesting box with minimal noise and a strict bedtime of 5PM.
Proud of her big green egg, comb perfectly upright, she has taken charge and shows everyone else the best spot to dig, given the snow has melted enough to see any 🫠
Grab some of Barb (and friends) eggs for Easter this weekend, a true Easter egger!

Even the girls know spring is on the way and are keeping us busy with collecting!
We have eggs available again but with a colourful twist 🤎💚🩵 But don’t worry they have nearly identical levels of protein, fats, and vitamins of white and brown eggs!
Not ready to try blue and green eggs yet? That’s okay we’ll still have just brown cartons too!

Message the page to grab a couple dozen from these employees!
Unfortunately we are waiting on our oven part still so we haven’t opened up bakery orders yet- but will keep you updated once we do!

Hello all !

Our family started this adventure a while back to try and help as many people as we could, tho our oven’s part is still not in and we are doing our best to keep it coming, we do have some troubling news.

We know this may be a touchy subject but it needs to be shared and seen.
As you know we have land around Havelock, our goal is to build a safe, strong haven for our family and our community, but with the news making more headway around this ALTO train proposal we have lots of concerns for our families future generations along with our communities future generations.

Please take the time to reach out to my husband, share your story, follow his page for updates and help us preserve the great place we all call home.

Hello everyone,

I’m heading to the public information session in Peterborough on the 26th.

I have many concerns I’ll be bringing forward and lots I’m going to be discussing there.
If anyone has any input or stories they would like to share let me know, either in comments or through messaging, please also share this around.
The more voices I can speak on behalf of the better.
I have received many emails and messages already, through posting in groups and the message being shared around, but with each one I am gathering more and more information from people’s personal experiences that equate to things I never would have known and more importantly leverage as to why this shouldn’t happen as planned.

I also understand why some may want it as it’s a fast train from point A to point B but when I explain the other options and the more progressive movements that could be done, no one seems to understand why this proposal is the best our government could come up with, specially with some estimates around $200 BILLION of tax money.

——————

Quick understanding of my opposition to this stems from multiple angles, I own and/or manage chucks of property that will be directly effected by this, including a roughly 50 acre lot right smack where drawings and rumours are said the rail will go, this lot in particular is my family home, to which, after years and years, has been worked on to build generational occupancy for my kids, now I’m being told there’s the possibility of a bulldozer coming through.
Also there are chunks of rental properties that too may be effected along the path, in a time of a affordable housing shortage and being able to offer cheap rental prices, some even at less than half the going rates just to help people out, how am I or anyone else suppose to explain this ?
Even further are the environmental aspects, I have spent years and years having my own and other people’s properties protected as essential ecosystem lands and according to the laws they are trying to push through, all of this work will mean nothing.

This is where we had our family arch blessed prior to getting married under it.
This is where my children were born, spoke their first words, took their first steps, and developed into the amazing little people they are.
This is where we received permission to spread our family pet’s ashes through a cultural ceremony.
This is not just a house, this is our home.

I understand this isn’t just about me and there are lots of people, animals, wildlife, ecosystems etc.. being threatened here so please share your stories and let’s get an action plan in the works.
I strongly recommend everyone sends an email to their local councils, mayors, deputy mayor etc etc explaining your position on this matter.

Please see attached my email to local representatives, (redacted personal info)

HELLO EVERYONE !!!

Unfortunately we have to close temporarily for an oven repair.
We had our thermocouple malfunction which has completely stopped our oven from working, after speaking with the manufacturer we have gotten the part ordered but unfortunately it will not be here for a short while.

We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience and we will be sure to have a delicious treat on special as soon as the part is replaced !!!!!!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year !!!

This month we won’t be doing an “employee of the month” award as most of our employees are in molting mode and will be on reduced egg production.

Instead we are announcing that for every order placed we will be donating a non perishable food item to our local food banks / pantries.
During these hard times communities need to stick together and do our part to help each and everyone we can.

Yes we are a little late on this one BUUUUUTT November’s Employee of the Month is -

Helmet 🤣

Although she is not a contributing member of the coop yet, Helmet just brings us pure laughs and joy during morning chores, daily activities and for that she’s the best in the coop this month! We have been anxiously waiting for a blue (or green) egg for 24 weeks +3 days now… so here’s hoping we get one in the coming days 🤞🏻
She sure loves an adventure around the yard so much that she won’t find her back before night and always has to be rescued from a perch!

Sorry for missing last month’s employee award as we had a rather rough time saying goodbye to our best man Bow.

This month’s employee award goes to !!!!
KYLE

This guy plays such an important role in the coop that he deserves 2 employee of the month awards nay a year’s worth lol !
The first member of the flock over 5 years ago, Kyle is an impressive silkie who always keeps the hens in order by day and ensures everyone makes it back in time for bed at night. His spurs are quite impressive as they make up for 1/3 of his weight (the remainder is feather and bone 🤣) but rest assured you wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of one!
He’s always the first one to run to the aid of his girls !
Incase you are ever awake and wondering if it is 3AM Kyle is more than happy to let you know with his distinct bellow of the early morning!

PS: Don’t let his mean look get you down, he’s actually very friendly if he knows you !

We are a couple days late on our employee of the month announcement for August, the first couple days have been non stop for us.

This month is a trio, our house pets.

Up front we have Nutsy our fluff ball kitty.
Tho he spends most of his time playing outside, he absolutely loves having his snuggles with his buddies and all of us too of course lol. If you ever want a fluff ball to snuggle Nutsy is your best option !

In the back we have Buster our farm pup.
Buster is sure to do his rounds everyday to make sure everything is in working order.
He is always on alert and an absolutely amazing guardian for our animals.
If you throw a ball once, you have chosen your fate for the remainder of the day, no joke he will force you to keep throwing it hahahaha.
Tho he is extremely friendly / has the most adorable puppy eyes, he can be very very leery of things he doesn’t know, making him a fantastic protector of our live stock.

In the middle we have our Bowser.
From the best man at our wedding (literally) to our original farm pup, Bowser has been our family member for over a decade.
Tho he doesn’t look it in the picture, age has surely started leaving its mark on him.
A hand full of surgeries, diabetes and a few other health problems never stopped this power house from preforming his role, from protecting our livestock, hauling trees out of the bush to being a racetrack for the kids.
We sure our proud of our boy and we are glad to see him enjoying his retirement now that he’s done training the Buster.
