🐟 You thought the last halibut was big… wait until you see this one!

This absolute 190 lb Atlantic halibut was landed over the last few days, caught just off the shores of Prince Edward Island by Joey Arsenault. What an incredible catch! 👏

Chef Norman couldn’t resist posing beside this monster before it was transformed into the fresh, premium halibut you’ve come to love at The Dunes Café.

And the best part? You’ll be able to taste it soon! Keep an eye out for our Halibut Au Gratin Feature, a rich, comforting Newfoundland classic prepared by Chef Norman using this incredible fresh catch.

There’s nothing quite like seafood that’s this fresh, local, and sustainably harvested.

Fresh Atlantic halibut has arrived at The Dunes Café!

Chef Norman was in the kitchen this morning preparing these beautiful, fresh-off-the-boat halibut, ready to be transformed into one of our signature favourites:

🍌 Banana Bread Crumb Crusted Halibut – a guest favourite featuring fresh local halibut, perfectly prepared and served with a Granny Smith Apple Curry Cream Sauce, seasonal vegetables and the rice of the day!

But there’s another exciting feature on the horizon…

🧀 Coming Soon: Chef Norman’s Halibut Au Gratin

A true Newfoundland delicacy, this comforting classic has been one of Chef Norman’s specialties for years. Fresh halibut baked in a rich, creamy sauce and topped with a golden au gratin finish—it’s a taste of Newfoundland you won’t want to miss!

🍻 Something Special is Brewing at The Dunes! 🍻

We are incredibly excited to announce a new collaboration between The Dunes Café and Flying Boats Brewing of Dieppe, NB with the upcoming release of our very own specially labelled Dunes beer!

This partnership is especially meaningful to us as it is rooted in friendship, family, and shared East Coast connections. Flying Boats Brewing is co-owned by Alex Noël, a former PEI Rocket player who spent two seasons billeting with Chef Norman Day and his family while playing junior hockey on Prince Edward Island.

It was during those years that Alex discovered his passion for brewing, beginning with a simple DIY homebrew kit on his 19th birthday. To see that passion evolve into a successful craft brewery and now come full circle in a collaboration with The Dunes makes this project particularly special.

While we have always been proud supporters of PEI businesses, this collaboration celebrates a relationship that has spanned many years and provinces, built on hospitality, friendship, and a shared love of great food and drink.

🍺 A new Dunes beer is on the horizon.
