Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to take a minute, to speak personally about everything that has been happening at The Beacon. As is always the case in life, there are always unexpected things that otherwise change a plan you thought you had a clear vision for. One of those times was last Sunday morning, when we woke up to the addition of our unplanned "drive thru window". Fortunately everyone will be ok. So we thought "great....all we gotta do is deal with the insurance, get fixed up and re-open". Unfortunately, something far worse happened. In the last 36 hrs., my mom was taken into palliative care. I doubt she will make it thru the weekend. Didi has been unwell for sometime, so this really is a blessing in disguise. As her son, along with my two brothers, it has been very difficult to watch her quality of life diminish to such an extent, and really not be able to do anything about it. But, this is life. She will be in peace and comfort now, and re-united with my Dad.

With the plans for a funeral on the horizon, working in tandem with the uncertainty of the timing of the repairs and re opening of the restaurant, I can't really speak as to when we will actually re-open. My hope, and best guess is next Fri. (Dec 19th). I want to apologize for not being available to you, to be a part of your Christmas plans, as was always our hope and plan. I want to apologize to those few, for all the blips that have happened along the way. The missed reservations, the unreturned calls. Thank you for your patience, and allowing us to find our way. But most of all, thank you for your understanding and allowing us the time to celebrate my mom's life, one last time.

I want to take the opportunity now to wish everyone a very wonderful Christmas Season, filled with joy, love, peace and comfort. Lets celebrate and be thankful for everything we do have, in these trying times, and lets keep in mind all those who are less fortunate, but no less deserving.

Thank you for allowing me the time to share with you my current journey.

It’s been… a week here at The Beacon. Between waiting on insurance, fixing the surprise “drive-thru” situation from the weekend, and dealing with a very important family emergency that needed our full attention, we’ve had a lot on our plate (and none of it was on the menu).

We want to reopen with our best foot forward, and that means taking things one day at a time. Thank you for your patience and kindness while we sort through everything, it genuinely means the world to us.

We’ll keep everyone updated as we go. In the meantime, we hope you get to slow down, spend time with the people you love, and enjoy a little calm on our behalf. 💛

This is something nobody wants to happen. A car drove into our building early this morning. First, our thoughts are with the occupants of the cars and we wish them a full recovery. We are waiting on building inspections but for now we are closed. Stay tuned for updates. This is not how we had hoped to get to know you this month. It has truly been an honour to launch in this community — we will be back to welcome you just as soon as we are allowed.

Brunch gave us some valuable insight, and while it wasn’t the right fit yet, it helped us see exactly where we need to focus.

Starting this week, we’re hitting pause on brunch. With an unplanned staffing shortage, our core kitchen and service teams will continue to put their best foot forward and give our full attention to a 6 day dinner service, Wednesday through to Monday. Tuesday we will be closed for a well deserved day off.

We will revisit Brunch in January with a renewed energy and clearer vision.

In the meantime, we’re excited to serve you nightly and continue growing with this community!
