DYK? Ancient cultures made versions of dough-based foods long before modern pasta took shape. In Italy, pasta gradually became the staple seen in the kitchen today, with different regions developing their own shapes, styles, and traditions.
By the 18th and 19th centuries, pasta was becoming a true Italian icon — and as Italian immigrants brought their food traditions around the world, pasta found a new home in kitchens (including ours!) everywhere.
Today, there are hundreds of pasta shapes, each designed to hold sauce, fillings, or toppings in their own delicious way.
