Hello all. It’s been a bit since I’ve posted anything but I’ve got some rather grand news. Pictured is the Digby Pines Hotel and Spa. Well guess who the new Executive Chef is? I’ll give you a clue; it’s not Guy Fieri. Need another? It’s me! I’m the new Executive Chef of this Nova Scotian landmark. Excited to open a new chapter in my career and help establish the Pines as one of Nova Scotia’s premier culinary hot spots. Incredibly grateful for all for the genuine support and to all the staff and customers who helped me realize a dream with the Coastal. Much to do to get ready for the move but just wanted to take a moment to share with you my good news and hope you can make a visit out there. Soon to be the home of the Durty Burd. A beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings and the Halifax breakfast legend, if that’s not worth the drive then I don’t know what to say. Anyhoodle, again a big thanks for the loyalty and appreciation. Onwards and upwards, people!

Will be back at the on Sunday, July 9 slinging the Burds. Burds and brews are natural pals. Psst, have coffee too.

Big thank you to for hosting my little Durty Burd pop-up. Great staff, it was a pleasure to spend time in their kitchen. Reminder the Burd will be back at this weekend, 10-2. Time to cool off now. Not that I’m complaining. .

Remember this thing? The all mighty Durty Burd? Have you been missing it? Well guess the what, I’m doing a Durty Burd pop-up Sunday, July 2 with the fine folks at on Robie St. Will be slinging these bad boys from 10-2, or until supplies last. This may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Since not all y’all watch them reel things I’m doing a traditional post as well. Doing the “yard sale” thing again tomorrow down at the Coastal, between 10 and 1. I made four of these piles of deliciousness, it’s a tortilla casserole take n bake with pollo verde, chorizo, mexi veg, and blanket of cheese. They will feed 2-4 people depending on the appetites. If you wish to reserve one for delivery DM me and we can make arrangements. Hoping to be able to announce some big news soon. Stay tuned.

It’s on! C’mon down and peruse the wares available.

Gonna have me a yard sale! Or cafe sale I s’pose. Saturday June 17, 10-2. Come down and buy a piece of local history, or cups and such. Things are priced but no reasonable offer refused. Come early if you’ve got something you’ve had your eye on. If you’re a cafe/restaurant owner I have supplies for sale including POS printers, one still in the box. I’d have food and coffee but my propane tanks are gone as is all the coffee equipment. .

I’m sorry that it’s come to this but I am in a really bad way. The city has really left me up the creek. It’s been quite the task getting this place boxed up and is still on going. As such I haven’t had much time to figure out post Coastal plans, and I’m bleeding out financially. Any donation and/or sharing of the page would be greatly appreciated. Think of it as an investment to keep the Durty Burd flying. Hoping to collaborate with another local biz or two and have had some inquiries regarding catered dinner parties. I’m just not in position at the moment to start up something as I am tapped out money wise. So as much as I am humiliated to have to write this I am kindly asking for your help.

Hey all, just dropping an update here. Many have asked why I don’t just simply move theCoastal to a new location. The answers are plenty; 1) it’s not easy or cheap to just pack up and move and the pandemic has exhausted any funds I would have had to do such a thing. I would never find such favourable rent as I had. 2) to me the space was the Coastal, for instance the cat shelves. I suppose they could be recreated but then it’s artificial. The Coastal was the Coastal, it would be impossible to recreate the vibe. Getting the place emptied out has been a massive undertaking and is ongoing. I’m thinking of having a garage sale this weekend for some of the wares, art, and fixtures. Might be slinging burgers out front as well, from my BBQ. I have some opportunity to do pop ups so keep following. I’d also love to start catering dinner parties, so if you want to host but not cook I am available. From a Mexican feast to a fancy dinner, book me to wow your friends and family.

Good Robots make good neighbours. Thanks to all across the street for the farewell bevies. Just might see some collaboration in the near future. Been laying low the past week, the fires were tightly preoccupying people’s attention. A huge thank you to the first responders for their tireless efforts over this past nightmarish week. As well, I’ve been trying to catch up on 16 years of sleep and processing it all. I will have more to post soon. Happy for the rain and another thank you for all the love and support. The name of this account will be changing soon, continue to follow though.
