🎶 THIS SHOW IS STILL MOVING FORWARD — BLACK MOON BLUES • AUGUST 29

With some of the changes we’ve recently made at Cast Away, we wanted to make sure everyone knows Black Moon Blues is still happening.

This is the one show I worked the hardest to bring to Guysborough and the one I’ve personally been looking forward to the most. There are still tickets available, and I really hope we can fill the room for what should be a pretty special night of live blues.

We’re welcoming Frank Sultana Music from Australia and Jon Hines from Nova Scotia for an intimate night of blues right here on the Guysborough Waterfront.

This is a small stop before they head to the 2026 Harvest Music Festival in Fredericton, where they’ll be part of a lineup featuring artists including Ba*****ed Ladies, Graham Nash, Drive-By Truckers and more.

This isn’t a big concert-hall kind of show. It’s blues up close, in a small room, where you can actually sit back with a drink and experience the music.

🎸 FRANK SULTANA

A modern-day Australian bluesman with gritty vocals, dark guitar tones and an old-soul sound. Frank won the 2023 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, becoming one of only three Australians to take the title.

🎸 JON HINES

A Cape Breton-based blues artist some of you will remember from Stan Rogers, Rock the Fiddle, or his previous visit to Cast Away. His music combines swampy guitar, haunting vocals and a powerful rhythm section.

📣 **NEW HOURS AT CAST AWAY CAFÉ & PUB**

After a lot of resting, thinking, and looking carefully at what we can realistically manage, we’ve decided to make a few changes to our weekly schedule.

We wanted to make sure our new hours still allowed us to be open for some of the great community programs and events happening at the café, including:

🎶 **Tides & Tunes Free Concert Series** presented by Guysborough Waterfront
🧘 **Wednesday Wellness Days** presented by Good Karma Handmade Goods & Art
🃏 **Chase the Ace** presented by Guysborough Waterfront & Guysborough Players
🎸 **Musicians Corner** presented by Musicians Corner - Cast Away Cafe

Most importantly, this new schedule takes into account that we are still very short-staffed. It gives our small team a schedule we can realistically manage without burning ourselves out while still keeping Cast Away open and active throughout the week.

Tuesday — CLOSED
Wednesday — 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Thursday — CLOSED
Friday — 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Saturday — 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Sunday — 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

👨‍🍳 **WE’RE STILL LOOKING FOR A COOK!**

We’re continuing our search for someone who can mainly work **Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays**. Finding the right person will allow us to start bringing back more of our **lunch and dinner specials, new menu items and Sunday breakfasts**.

For now, we think this schedule gives us the best balance between keeping the café open, supporting the great things happening on the Guysborough Waterfront, and making sure our small team can keep doing this for the long haul.

A little heads-up: our kitchen is closed today, but there are still lots of reasons to stop in.

A QUICK UPDATE FROM CAST AWAY

We’ll be closing at 5:00 PM this evening, and unfortunately there won’t be any live music tonight.

Cary is going to take a few days off to rest and reassess everything. For basically the last 2 months, he’s been working six days a week, often 10–12 hours a day, trying to keep everything going. That pace simply isn’t sustainable, and he needs to take a few days to rest and figure out the best way forward.

We will be open tomorrow Sunday August 16th but the kitchen won’t be open we are hoping to have grab and go sandwich’s as well as our usual baking and hot and cold drinks.

Sometimes you have to recognize when it’s time to slow things down, get some rest, and take a look at what needs to change.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. We’ll keep you updated over the next few days once Cary has had a chance to recharge and work out what comes next for Cast Away.

What a beautiful Saturday! The sun is shining, it’s not too hot, and there’s a nice little breeze coming off the water. Pretty much a perfect day to get out of the house.

We’re OPEN 11 AM–10 PM today!

Reopens 5–8 PM

🍰 The showcase is loaded with yummy baked treats, including these AMAZING MINI CHEESECAKES. Seriously… so good!

🎶 LIVE MUSIC TONIGHT!
Jeremy White hits the stage from 7–10 PM for a great Saturday night of free live music.

Spend the afternoon exploring the beaches, take a drive along the coast, then make your way down to the Guysborough Waterfront. Grab an ice-cold drink, fill that tummy up, find a spot by the water and enjoy the evening.

☀️ Good food. Cold drinks. Live music. Waterfront breeze.

That sounds like a pretty good Saturday to us!

🎶 IT’S FRIDAY AT CAST AWAY!

We’re open 11 AM–10 PM today, Friday, August 14th, and there’s lots happening down at the Guysborough Waterfront.

The showcase is stocked with yummy baked treats, and the kitchen will be serving up lunch from 11 AM–3 PM.

Because we’re still short a cook, we’ll be giving the kitchen a little break from 3–5 PM, then firing things back up for dinner from 5–8 PM.
