Farm & Food Care Ontario

Farm & Food Care Ontario Farm & Food Care Ontario is growing public trust and consumer confidence in farming and food by working collaboratively with Ontario farmers and food partners.

July 2021 update: We have just learned that someone is falsely representing themselves as a FFCO agent & recruiting foreign workers to come to Canada at great personal cost. This is a scam. FFCO does NOT facilitate immigration to Canada or arrange contracts for Temporary Foreign Workers. Farm & Food Care is a coalition of farmers and associated businesses proactively working together with a commitment to provide credible information and strengthen sustainable food and farming for the future. We encourage you to interact on our page, however since we unfortunately cannot monitor every conversation, Farm & Food Care expects that users will not post content that falls into the following categories and reserves the right to remove postings that are:

From eggs to potatoes to mushrooms, today was all about learning where our food comes from and how fresh it arrives from the farm.

We hosted George Brown College culinary students for a behind the scenes look at Ontario agriculture, starting at Burnbrae Farms to learn about egg grading and hear from Chicken Farmers of Ontario about supply management and raising chickens. Next up was Brenn B Farms to learn about potato production, followed by Piccioni Bros. Mushroom Farm to see how mushrooms are grown.

Thank you to Burnbrae Farms, Chicken Farmers of Ontario, Brenn B Farms, Piccioni Bros. Mushroom Farm and Mushrooms Canada for helping make today’s tour possible.

Eat the season: Ontario zucchini is here.

Ontario zucchini is in season and ready to add some local flavour to your plate! Mild, fresh, and incredibly versatile, zucchini works in everything from quick weeknight meals to summertime baking.

Grill it on the barbecue, toss it into pasta, add it to stir-fries, or bake it into muffins and breads. With so many ways to enjoy it, now is a great time to make the most of Ontario zucchini.

Eat the Season. Love What's Local.

Many of us recognize the Greenbelt’s jaw-dropping landscapes and world-class outdoor spaces, but the Greenbelt is more than the Niagara Escarpment, Oak Ridges Moraine and hiking trails.

Ontario’s Greenbelt includes multiple ecologically and agriculturally significant areas, including the Niagara Escarpment, Oak Ridges Moraine, protected countryside, urban river valleys, and the Holland Marsh and Niagara Tender Fruit and Grape specialty crop areas.

Many farms, food systems and communities thrive within the Greenbelt. 6.1% of Ontario’s farmland exists within the Greenbelt. These farms range from cattle to fruit and vegetables to poultry and flowers.
