🍃 A Journey into Taiwanese Tea | Rixin Organic Tea Garden, Miaoli
This May, I had the pleasure of visiting Rixin Organic Tea Garden (日新茶園) in Toufen, Miaoli, a family tea garden with nearly a century of tea-making tradition.
We arrived just as they were producing Oriental Beauty Tea (Dongfang Meiren). On the top floor of the tea factory, a specially designed withering area allows natural sunlight to gently filter in while protecting the tea leaves from wind and rain.
There, I watched a hardworking father and son carefully tending and turning the freshly harvested tea leaves during the withering process. It was a beautiful scene—quiet, focused, and filled with generations of knowledge.
For generations, this family has continued to refine its craft while respecting the land and embracing organic cultivation. Rixin Tea Garden is especially known for its Oriental Beauty Tea, honey-aroma black tea, and traditional Hakka citrus tea.
What touched me most was seeing tradition passed from one generation to the next.
Tradition is not simply preserving the old ways—it is carrying the wisdom of those before us forward, while continuing to learn, improve, and create.
My heartfelt thanks to my dear friend Li-Zhen and Mr. Lin for accompanying me on this wonderful journey. Together, we explored another beautiful chapter of Taiwan’s organic tea culture. 🌿🍵

🍃 台灣尋茶記｜苗栗日新有機茶園
今年五月，有幸走訪苗栗頭份的百年茶園——日新茶園。
來訪的那一天，正逢東方美人的製茶季。茶廠頂樓特別打造了能引入自然日光、同時遮蔽風雨的萎凋空間。陽光靜靜灑進來，一對勤奮的父子正細心翻動茶菁，觀察茶葉在萎凋過程中的細微變化。
一片好茶，看似簡單，背後卻凝聚了幾代人的經驗與智慧。
日新茶園傳承近百年的製茶技藝，長年堅持有機栽培，以東方美人、蜜香紅茶及客家傳統酸柑茶聞名。從上一代累積的經驗，到年輕一代持續學習、改良與精進，我看到的不只是製茶，更是一份對土地與台灣茶文化的守護。
