Get ready to sing, dance and remember a cultural moment that lives on, ten years later! The Forever Hip event series is coming to Springer Market Square this Thursday, Aug. 20 – Saturday, Aug. 22. Here's what you need to know before you go:

• Forever Hip includes Rockin' the Square, sponsored by Empire Life, on Aug. 20; a merch market, music walking tours and a free screening of Long Time Running (2017) on Aug. 21; and a free viewing party of The Tragically Hip's final concert in Kingston on Aug. 22.

• These events are rain or shine, so come with everything you need for outdoor fun including hats, sunscreen, umbrellas and water bottles.

• Lawn chairs are permitted at the screenings of Long Time Running and The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration. Seating location is first-come, first-served.

• We encourage attendees to take active transportation or public transit where possible. You can find your preferred route on Kingston Transit's Trip Planner: https://www.kingstontransit.ca/trip-planner/

Public Notice: E-Scooter use in the Town of Gananoque

The Town of Gananoque, in partnership with the Gananoque Police Service, wishes to inform residents about the legal status of electric scooters (e-scooters) within the Town.

In 2020, the Province of Ontario launched a pilot program that allows municipalities to opt in and permit the use of e-scooters, subject to specific provincial requirements and local regulations. The Town of Gananoque has not opted in to this pilot program.

As a result, e-scooters are not permitted to operate on municipal roads, sidewalks, trails, or other public spaces within the Town where their use would otherwise be authorized under the provincial pilot program.

The Town appreciates the interest and feedback received from residents on this topic and remains committed to supporting safe, accessible, and sustainable transportation options for our community.

Penalties could also apply to violations of the pilot regulation and the Highway Traffic Act (fines of $85 to $2,500).

For more information about Ontario's e-scooter pilot program, visit Ontario.ca/eScooters.
