Last night, the Planning Advisory Committee voted to deny our temporary use variance application.
We came prepared and presented three years of evidence showing the value we've brought to the downtown core. We also presented our belief that, while long-term redevelopment remains the ultimate goal for the property, The Front Yard has provided a positive and productive use of an otherwise underutilised site during that time.
While the outcome wasn't what we hoped for, we respect the process and the Committee's role in it.
We want to sincerely thank the members of the Committee who took the time to carefully consider our application and the information presented. We are especially grateful to those who supported our request.
To our customers, our staff, our neighbouring businesses, our suppliers, and everyone who has supported us over the last three years — thank you. What started as an idea to bring something different to Fredericton grew into something much bigger than we ever imagined. Together, we've created jobs, supported local talent, worked with local businesses, and built a community that we're incredibly proud of.
As it stands today, July 10th remains our current operating end date. However, we are actively reviewing the decision and exploring every available path forward.
