We’re looking for a few more willing chip-spreaders — no special skills required, just clothes you don’t mind getting dirty! 😁

Then we’ll reward you with a coffee (or whatever floats your boat) at Spiral Cafe afterwards. ☕️

**Update** Three of the four loads have already been delivered to Vic West.
I am expecting the last load of wood chips to be delivered within half an hour.
So should all be available by 12 o’clock!
Head on down to 403 Craigflower Rd- in the Chicken on the Run parking lot, with your buckets or your wheelbarrows.
There are spots blocked for you to park your cars and load, just move the cones aside for access. If there are others waiting, there is no need to replace the cones. However, if there is no one behind you, please re-block the spots so that others can load up after you. 
We have two shovels and two forks available. Please put them back under the tree when you’re finished.
You will see that we have two piles of leaf mulch ! Please take from the one actually in the parking spot first, as we need that gone. The one closer to the Commons can be accessed if there is none left in the parking spot, but please do not touch anything under a tarp!

TOMORROW!!

🌿 FREE LEAF MULCH & WOODCHIPS! 🌿

For the last time this year, the City of Victoria is bringing free leaf mulch and woodchips to neighbourhoods for your personal garden.

📍 Vic West: Friday, September 18
📍 405 Craigflower Rd — in the blocked parking spots
⏰ Please DO NOT arrive before 12pm. Follow all signage.

We’ve ordered more than last year, so trucks will be coming and going throughout the morning. The material will be ready for pickup after noon [12pm].

♻️ Please remember: this is for the whole community. To make sure everyone gets some, we suggest a maximum of ONE wheelbarrow per household.

Can’t make September 18? No worries! There will be several other neighbourhood drops over the following two weeks.

Thank you for another an-MAIZE-ing Corn Roast, Vic West!

The weather was perfect to shuck and grill countless cobs, race puppies and zucchini cars, enjoy ice cream and share award winning apple pies. The talented musicians filled Raynor Street with great music all afternoon long and the neighbourhood came out to celebrate!

The Vic West Corn Roast was once again a huge success filled with community spirit and incredible donations to support the Little Free Pantry.

Huge thank you to the dedicated Vic West Food Security Collective and the awesome volunteers for all their planning and hard work running the show. We couldn't host these fantastic community-led events without you!

Bring down your best homemade apple pie to the Vic West Corn Roast to compete for the blue ribbon prize!

Drop off between 12:30 and 2pm on Sunday September 13th
Judging starts at 2pm with guest judges from

Prizes donated by neighbourhood favourite The Market Garden
1st - $100 gift card & basket
2nd - $50 gift card
3rd - $50 gift card
