It’s been a long time since I’ve done an introduction post and have quite a few new followers! So here we go! Hi, and welcome to Awn Kitchen, I’m Kaelin and I wear some of the many hats behind Awn Kitchen.
Owner to start and I always joke that if you’d asked me 15 years ago what I’d be doing, it definitely wouldn’t have been running a small business. I started the business in 2015 and although lots has changed in eleven years, lots has stayed the same too! I am the person behind recipe packs (typos included!), class development (along with the help of my mum), and the face you’ll see in classes. I am the cleaner and the laundry doer, the garbage runner, the market shopper and person behind admin and social media. I believe in simple food - simple meaning not fussy, showcasing the season and where we live!
A few random tidbits - I love to knit, socks mostly and I know, I know I could buy many socks for the price and time it takes to knit a pair. It’s rare you’ll see me without Birks on and in the winter without a scarf around my neck. I went to culinary school in Ireland which is where the foundation for this wee business started. I love Jasper and am looking very forward to a weekend in the mountains come September. My favourite meal is a roast chicken dinner and I’m not super keen on pizza or raw tomatoes! There are lots of pieces of Awn I am proud of but the loyal client base and friendships that have been developed has to be at the top!
If you’re new here, like I said welcome, and I hope to see you at a class soon! If you’re one of the ones that’s been around for a bit, as always thanks for being here and supporting this dream, the conversations around the table and good food and drink!
