Good Afternoon, Thoughtful Thursday Challenge Friends,

Thanks for the awesome posts and for sharing your favourite fall memories and traditions! It sounds like we are all agreeing on the spectacular display of fall colours we get to enjoy here in Canada every year.

Make sure you come back next week for some more "Fall food for thought" - although we won't have an active Thoughtful Thursday Challenge because of our SCE Wellness Fair happening next Thursday, October 8th, we will still have an opportunity to enjoy a few happy thoughts on October - and fall, together.

So have a great rest of the week, a spectacular weekend, and don't forget to take in the beauty of fall, the abundant colours, the simple pleasures like a hike in the forest, or sitting on the deck with a steaming cup of coffee, and of course... getting ready for Thanksgiving , just around the corner! 🍂🍁

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Only 6 more sleeps! (Or five sleeps and one night spent staring at the ceiling, mentally reorganizing your sock drawer.)

Is the taxman keeping you up at night—lurking in your thoughts like an unwanted guest who refuses to leave?

Or maybe you are perfectly happy handing the taxman a more-than-significant portion of your hard-earned dollars. If so, congratulations on achieving a level of generosity usually reserved for favourite grandchildren and people who bring dessert.

If you would prefer another option, we have a couple of practical suggestions that might help you find ways for you to keep more of your money—and perhaps help you reclaim a little sleep while you are at it. Taxes and sleeplessness may be a gloomy pair, but good information can be a surprisingly effective night-light.

Sign up soon for our workshops happening at the Seniors’ Centre for Excellence Health and Wellness Fair 2026 on October 8 at the PMD Arena in Drayton.

Call 519-638-1000 or get in touch at [email protected] to register.
You'll discover some helpful tax tips and possibly learn clever strategies so that you can enjoy your next six sleeps without counting deductions or sheep.

Good Thursday Morning, Thoughtful Thursday Challenge Friends.

Welcome to October! For my first Thoughtful Thursday post on behalf of the Seniors’ Centre for Excellence, I have a confession to make: October is my absolute favourite month in Canada.

In the Southern Hemisphere where I was born, October brings an abundance of spring blossoms and the promise of lazy, hazy summer days ahead. But October 1998 marked my very first visit to Canada, and I was instantly captivated. As I drove along Highway 401 from the airport, a breathtaking fall tapestry of golden yellow, burnt orange, crimson, and russet leaves simply stole my heart... Years later, when my husband’s work brought us from London, England, to Drayton, Ontario, we were absolutely delighted to make Canada our home.

So, have you paused today to take in the crisp morning air?
Have you noticed the first glimpses of gold and crimson on the trees?
(Here's hoping on both!)

October is finally here, bringing along cool breezes, warm sweaters, and nature’s most spectacular colour show. There’s something so comforting about watching the leaves turn and gathering our favourite cozy blankets as the season shifts. Today, let’s share a little autumn warmth together!

1. What is your absolute favourite shade or colour to spot in the autumn trees (glowing yellow, deep crimson, burnt orange)?

2. What cozy ritual or warm drink do you look forward to most on a chilly October morning?

3. Do you have a favourite fall memory from years past—enjoying a traditional Thanksgiving meal with family and friends, trick-or-treating with family, making leaf piles, or visiting a pumpkin patch?

Your turn.

• And just a reminder:
a. Respond to the questions above in the comments section below.
b. Deadline to enter is 4 pm today (October 1, 2026)
c. One entry per week.
d. Draw will be made on Thursday (October 29, 2026)

Looking forward to reading your cozy responses!

Only 7 sleeps until the Seniors’ Centre for Excellence Health & Wellness Fair 2026!

Get Excited!
We’re polishing the tables, perfecting the floor plan, and getting ready to welcome you—with open arms, friendly faces, and a tote bag for all those freebies.

Join us on October 8 at the PMD Arena in Drayton for a day devoted to health, wellness, connection, and meeting up with friends and neighbours (and even making a few new friends along the way).

Good health is about more than checkups—it includes staying connected, learning something new, and enjoying good company.

We’ve got all three covered:
• Wellington County Museum and Archives — explore local stories, fascinating artifacts, and a little history that may have you saying, “I remember that!”
• Drayton Library — discover programs, resources, and plenty of reasons to keep reading, learning, and turning the page.
• Mapleton Historical Society — connect with the people preserving Mapleton’s past and hear the memorable stories that make our community feel like home.

Network, learn, and enjoy a great day out. We’ll see you at the fair!
