Supporting local art has always been important to us, and it’s a two way street. Local art supports us, too. 🎨
We’re beyond proud to showcase Chelsea Gauvin’s custom piece “Tony, the Man Around Town” on all of our new packaging.
We commissioned this piece from Chelsea for the opening of our fourth location, the downtown cafe at Tony’s on Botsford. ☕️
📝 By that time, Tony had already written chapters at the Moncton Farmer’s Market, Tony’s Bistro on McLaughlin, and Atelier Tony and Boulangerie Tony in downtown Dieppe - all of which are represented in the artwork. A real man around town, if you will.
Chelsea used a number of interesting techniques in the piece, including taking photographs of iconic Moncton buildings like the façade of the Moncton Market nearest Tony’s original booth, and direct lighting the cutouts to cast shadows and trace the architecture (pictured).
Chelsea Gauvin, after graduating from NSCAD, has worked as a scenic painter in film, television, and theatre. She embraces playfulness and spontaneity in her artwork.
🥰 We too embrace playfulness and spontaneity.
In addition to finding Chelsea’s work in our spaces and on our coffee cups, you can spot her pieces at the City of Moncton’s Collection of Fine Arts, collectionArtNB, and via Iceberg Contemporary Art.
