Hey everyone! It’s here, the bittersweet last weekend of the Lockside Canteen. We’ll be here 12-6 Saturday & Sunday well stocked with all of our classic menu items plus a recurring favourite, the Pickle Smash. There will be large batches of everything made so we (hopefully) don’t run out too early, but if you have any concerns head on over to our site and preorder.

If you were hoping to snag a container of a sauce or queso, don’t fret! We’ll be making batches of those types of take-home things next week that you’ll be able to order and pick up over the next few weeks at least.

Ice cream pint drops will also resume soon! Need to wrap a few other things up first. And of course we will update you here about all take home items. Thank you ♥️

POSSIBLY THE LAST BRUNCH?? Featuring bagels from .hfx! Starts at 11 on Saturday, if we have anything left over we might have a bit on Sunday morning as well. Cream cheese flavours subject to whim and availability of local strawbs. Normal menu tonight (Friday) open 4-7 plus a fun potato salad ✌️

This, our 9th season, will be our last operating the Lockside Canteen in Shubie Park.

It’s been 11 years since we started with flavoured lemonades at Alderney Market and it’s been a wild ride! It seems each season brought new ideas and changes; some small and some big. Nevertheless, it’s no secret that the food industry can be hard on both bodies and minds. We put so much of ourselves into this business, and yet there is still the challenge of planning for the future with a seasonal income.

Some of you have been with us since our early days at Alderney Market, some since the taco days, and many of you in the past few years. Thank you all for making this place so hard to quit - our community’s continuing support has sustained us for over a decade and helped make Lemon Dogs something we’ll forever be proud to have created. A very special thank you also goes out to our staff, current and former, for making everything possible. We really couldn’t have lasted this long without you!

The Lockside Canteen will be put up for tender for the 2025 season, and it’s our hope that someone from the community will be able to take over and continue with vegetarian goodies at Shubie Park. Please spread the word - it really is an excellent space to build a small restaurant! The Shubenacadie Canal Comission has been a great partner throughout our time at the park.

We’re planning to release a small cookbook of Lockside Canteen staples and will continue making vegan ice cream creations. Please stay tuned for more on that.

We appreciate everything that you have done to help us build this business, and we hope to see many of you in our final few weeks at Shubie Park. Thank you! ❤️

FRIDAY 12-7 ONLY: SOUTHERN BAR•B•Q

This has been on my bucket list for years and IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING! Pulling inspiration from the greatest of american & southern food traditions, we’ve got meats & sides plates with so many options to choose from. Entirely vegan menu (with the exception of the dairy version of mac & cheese) and crafted all in house. Preorder online to secure your plate! Limited availability at the counter, prices include tax.

WEEKEND SPECIAL: PIMENTO SMASH • house made pimento cheese spread (veg or vegan) slathered on a buttery toasted bun with fresh market tomatoes, pickled green tomatoes and a 3oz patty • rich yet light and very satisfying. eat it with the jalapeño slaw for a refreshing bite with a slight kick ✌️ gotta get those summer tomatoes while they’re around!

BACKYARD BBQ • new menu for this weekend only, bringing back the vegan dogs! we still have the smash/vegan smash on deck, don’t you worry • please note: the hot dogs we use contain gluten and will be cooked on the burger griddle; this may not be the weekend to order gluten free (everything will be well scrubbed at the end of the weekend for next week)

First brunch of 2024! Both Saturday & Sunday, 11-2 for brunch items, regular menu available 12-6. Everything is vegetarian (as per usual) with vegan swaps available! Either sandwich can be gluten-friendly. See you tomorrow ✌️
