It was our dream to open a restaurant in this community. But for the past almost two years it has been endless days of hope, stress, sadness, wondering how we are going to keep the doors open and days where we don't want to even get out of bed. Most who follow us know that since day one of this pandemic we have received not a dime in provincial and very little federal help because of the convenient (or inconvenient in our case) hoops they have put into place to jump through. Every time we think we might be able to finally grow our business we continue to be held under water. Let us be clear, we are not anti vax or pro vax, anti mask or pro mask, we just want to survive.
What we are being asked to do now is wrong. We are asked to be enforcers of a mandate that is created by people who's job it was to make sure it never got to this point. Again to be clear we don't care if people wear masks or don't, we don't care if people are vaccinated or they aren't, its our job to make food, not be forced to do our politicians dirty work. When an angry person comes to the doors of a business it isn't them who will have to say no. It's cowardly.
And finally we are sad. We are sad this entire situation has pitted people against each other. We are sad at all the hatred and anger out there that is directed at the wrong people, those who are just trying their best. That is not what a community does when things get tough.
We are neutral, we just wanted to feed people and let them have a good time. But that doesn't seem possible right now. So with that said we will be closing our doors indefinitely effective Monday September 26th. This is not a decision we take lightly and one that has been devastating to myself and my staff. But they have made it so there is no right answer, just anger. We pray that instead of hate and anger we can all start showing some kindness and understanding.
