Now I preach the wonders of the snack aisle being a thing of the past, and for the most part the wonder is lost these days… though that may be the fact that I’m a grown woman with a penchant for yesteryear who also never leaves the shop 🤣 but some snack aisle staplers have stood the test of time… and this is one of them! The Hostess Cupcake! A true treasure to pull from the household communal snack bin - only accessible for the preparation of the paper bag lunch, of course!

In donut form we have here a fudgy chocolate cake donut, topped with a layer of marshmallow fluff and then dunked into our signature chocolate dip, finished with that precious vanilla swirl on top! There we have it, lunch is packed and we’re off to school… The new trio hits the case starting tomorrow and stays with us all month!

Now mama always said I had to take a piece of fruit too! Balance, right! Did that Apple roll around in my backpack for a few days at times? Possibly! Look, I hadn’t yet discovered the creation of the cosmic crisp apple (as it hadn’t been developed yet), and I could speak to you at length about the delight that is this apple varietal in today’s adult world I’m living in… but we’re taking things back to kiddieland, and we don’t have all day to discuss the crunchy perfection that is this magic apple! So back to the 90s - did I consider a fruit roll up a serving of fruit? Obviously! So we’re working with fruit on a technical basis here… as in technically this covers our serving of fruit 😏 with the Apple Cinnamon Crumb! There were plenty of pastry wrapped apple product in my lunch bags too, so this hits on all levels!

Brioche ring topped with a, dare I say it - Fall vibes, apple brown butter dip, topped with cinnamon streusel crumb, and a piece of apple cinnamon crumb bar. We loved last month’s crumb bar so much we needed to make this apple version, and not for a second did we think twice about this particular back to back topper! Available starting tomorrow and with us all month!

Well, well, well, if it isn’t September tomorrow! And if it is, then it’s time for the annual trip down memory lane.. Time to get a little nostalgic, reminisce on the good old days, really hit all those childhood feels… back to the old paper bag school lunch! It’s back to school and back to the favourites. Back when the snack aisle provided both comfort and cultural status in the lunch yard; back when prepackaged processed convenience was a perfectly acceptable “parenting hack”; and back when the very foundational building blocks of Bigfoot first emerged, in the making of the school lunch! Inspiration at its finest 🤘

And our first up should come as no surprise, it’s the OG paper bag lunch menu item, returning heavyweight stuffie champ, it’s just the greatest - the PB&J! And it tastes every bit as you’d expect 🤤 brioche, topped with peanut butter dip, chopped peanuts, and filled with our mixed berry jam (blackberry, blueberry, raspberry). It just doesn’t get any better… get it starting tomorrow through the month!

It’s Pride in the Park in Downtown Courtenay tomorrow along with the Pride Parade passing right out front of Bigfoot at 11:30! We’ve taken to celebrating pride weekend with musical guests inspiring our specials! And we’re breaking out a legendary ally for tomorrow’s festivities… one that has been on our minds this week… the one and only, Dolly Parton! She put it best… “If I weren’t born a girl, I’d be a drag queen” - couldn’t agree more, Dolly, couldn’t agree more!

Join us for Dolly Day at Bigfoot tomorrow in support of our friends in the rainbow community 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🤎 our Dolly specials hit the case at 9am, tomorrow only! Taking from her many life quotes, here’s what we got:

“If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain” - well, Dolly, we’re changing it up a little bit and think it’s time to get past the rain and on to the rainbow that is the many beautiful souls that we see everyday at Bigfoot and look forward to seeing out and proud tomorrow! We have here the Cruller of many colours - rainbow cruller filled with tart glazed fresh strawberries with strawberry whipped cream, finished with a revised quote sugar cookie - be that rainbow, friends!

“It’s hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world” - we’re shining it up for y’all with this Dolly’s Lolly donut… in one of her signature recipes, southern coconut cake. Coconut drop cake donut topped with coconut glaze, glittery shredded coconut, and a coconut cake pop!

“Love is like a butterfly, a rare and gentle thing” - celebrating love with this pink vanilla dip, finished with a Dolly signature emblem, the butterfly (in sugar cookie)!

“The higher the hair, the closer to god”. Guess the hair can’t get any bigger, rest easy queen. In her favourite dessert flavour, banana pudding. Brioche stuffie filled with fresh sliced banana, a whipped banana pudding, and topped with sky high torched meringue fluff!

So tease that hair, put on the cowboy boots and fringe, and come listen to the legend with us all day tomorrow, get the goods, and enjoy the pride events downtown!
