Cochrane & Area Humane Society Meet your new best friend at the Cochrane & Area Humane Society! Dogs receive training and behaviour assistance to make them good canine citizens.

The Cochrane & Area Humane Society provides food, shelter, medical care and the opportunity for adoption for unwanted, surrendered, lost and unclaimed animals, while promoting responsible pet ownership through educational programs, rural spay/neuter programs and public fundraising events. ry, permanent identification and the chance for adoption into a new home. Lost pets are reunited with their guardians and the Society creates humane education programs to promote responsible pet guardianship. Children participate in Day Camps and victims of domestic violence are helped through the Pet Safe Program. Each year thousands of people call or come through our doors to surrender, adopt, claim lost pets, volunteer, seek advice, training or assistance, utilize our resource centre, attend humane education programs or make donations. We take in approximately 1,100 animals every year and are happy that we are able to successfully place or return home over 90% of them.

These sweet sisters are looking for patient, understanding people to help them build their confidence and feel safe in a new home. 💕

A little shy at first, Deva and Dorris prefer to take things at their own pace when meeting new people and exploring new surroundings. With time, kindness, and consistency, we know these gentle girls will blossom.

One of the sweetest things about them? Their special bond. You'll often find them cuddled together or grooming one another, making them a joy to watch. While they don't need to be adopted together, they already share a beautiful friendship and would make a wonderful pair for someone looking to welcome two cats into their home. 🐱🐱

Whether together or apart, Deva and Dorris are ready to find loving homes where they can feel secure, loved, and appreciated for exactly who they are. ❤️

He's smart, affectionate, loves treats, and has mastered the art of balancing playtime with cuddle time. His foster family says he's made amazing progress and continues to shine with consistency and structure.

❤️ From scared puppy to confident companion. Meet Ferngully. ❤️

When Ferngully first arrived in our care, she was terrified of everything.

She spent her days tucked into the back corner of her kennel, too frightened to come out. It took days of patience, compassion, and gentle encouragement from our Behaviour Team before she felt safe enough to take those first brave steps forward.

Over time, Ferngully's confidence began to grow. With love, support, and dedicated behavioural care, she learned to trust again. Eventually, she was ready to find a family of her own.

Today, Ferngully is thriving in her forever home. Her family says her true personality is shining through. She's a goofy girl who loves the water, enjoys exploring, and while new sights and smells can still be a little overwhelming, she now has something she never had before: a family that loves her unconditionally. 🐾

Ferngully's journey is a powerful reminder of what second chances can do.

Jack Sparrow has found his crew! 🏴‍☠️❤️

Now known as Kuma, this happy pup is settling into his new home and loving every minute of it. From exploring his new world to sampling anything he can get his paws on, Kuma is fully embracing family life. He's also taking notes from his big brother and learning the ropes along the way!

Congratulations to Kuma and his wonderful new family. 🐶💙
