If you wanted to come for super this week, TONIGHT, is your only chance. We are all filled up tomorrow and already have people in waiting list….. last table mentioned they are going to the show in town, so I looked to see what it is and thought I should share!
So, you may not get dinner at the OB and then the movie but maybe make the trip and support our theatre this weekend!

Back in stock!!!!

For those who don’t like cheesecake or LOVE it but want to have two desserts…. I always have some sort of dessert that I don’t make in house. Not enough hours in the day to make ALL the things but these are top quality and been on the menu here for a decade or even decades!!

The Original Cakerie - Sticky Toffee Pudding - a favourite for many! They had a situation in their warehouse that had them shut down for a while but it’s back in time for autumn!! We warm it up so it looks nicer than the pic here.

WOW Factor - Chocolate Caramel Cake
Layers of chocolate cake with caramel between, topped with more caramel and chocolate shavings, then we add even more chocolate and caramel sauce on top.

Do you have food sensitivities or allergies? I’m sure we can accommodate them! However, we ask that you MENTION this DURING your BOOKING so I can help you with your questions and answers. When we are open it can be very time consuming and really, only me, Angie, can answer all your questions, or try too!!

I might have to look up ingredients on websites because often the shipping sticker is on top of the list and some boxes don’t even have ingredients listed! For real! I can tell you the brands we use so that you can do due diligence for yourself. I am definitely not up to date on all the sensitivities and ingredients to look out for.

If your sensitivity is simply to gluten, then no need to mention it. Because nearly everything is made here and does not come out of a box, the menu is full of options! We never had to change anything to make it that way either. The food here is naturally gf! With exemptions of the obvious flour items.
Each dish is made on a fresh piece of parchment as well!

Doing this will ensure that you and everyone else gets great service with attention to all customers needs.

Tomorrow is the day!
Due to getting grocery deliveries today and Friday, the “new” specials will start next week… WEDNESDAY!
We will have these specials still for this week but not the cheesecake and smoked mozza dip.

*Please call ahead for tables, especially if Wednesday as it isn’t our normal day so not often busy or have anyone at all. If you plan last minute we might not be open or be able to accommodate as I would be cooking and serving alone. I can only handle a table or two.

Last summer during holidays I painted both dining rooms, halllway and the bathrooms. This year I did the kitchen and there’s one more surprise upgrade in the dining area! I gave the booths a fresh new look with faux leather bottom and an embossed vinyl back. Sanded and painted the wood parts and the bottoms.
Still working on them this weekend… love doing the little things that make a big difference. I think the booths were last done in 2004 when I moved to this space. They sat a lot of guests!
Oh, I did a side by side with a chair because I know some people think the booths are lower. They are actually about the exact same as they are higher than a chair but you do sink a bit with the cushion. I had never checked so was surprised to see that

Soo….. we have to make one more change/delay to our hours. We will be open WEDNESDAY September 9 to FRIDAY September 11 and CLOSED SATURDAY 12 due to the Carnduff FALL FLING.
All my servers have small children and it’s the greatest day of the year for them in Carnduff. I understand none of them wanting to work, so we will not be opening that night and pushing our regular hours of Thursday to Saturdays back another week.
So, we are still open starting next Thursday but just pushing back and extra Saturday.
Check out the Fall Fling page on fb! It’s a great day for all ages, everything is FREE except food or other purchases. Sooo many things going on.

Just one week to go!! Back to checking messages and getting the reservation book filling up!
Next week we are open Thursday and Friday then the following week will be Wednesday to Friday. Because I get my grocery supplies Wednesday we will just open with regular menu and cheesecakes next week. The new specials will get posted and ready for the week of August 26-28
Miss everyone and am recharged and ready to go! Look forward to the “getting back to routine” that comes with this time of year.

Hours will be WEDNESDAY - FRIDAY until after Labour Day weekend. Then we resume regular hours until next spring.

So, I learned something new today!!!
When I first opened the bistro in 2000, we served a Horiatiki salad AKA village Greek salad to those in Greece! Many customers were expecting lettuce in the salad and with the price of vegetables increasing I changed up the salad and began adding lettuce and it has remained that way.
A “Greek salad” is what is eaten outside of Greece. If you visit Greece and see “Greek salad” on the menu, you’re in a touristy area. You will get a Horiatiki salad but they won’t call it that to keep it simple.
So, people will say, “In Greece I had a real Greek salad” when technically you had a Horiatiki salad. Who knew?? No one has ever, in my 26 years explained this to me. Saw it on a real today where I also learned a new word. Pedantic. It’s excellent!
