ABOUT OUR BUILDING:
Landreth Cottage is located at 84 Water Street South, on the west side of the street between Concession and Walnut Streets, in the City of Cambridge. HERITAGE VALUE
Landreth Cottage is located in the downtown area of the former Town of Galt. It is recognized as a landmark in the Living Levee Master Plan. It has a deep, landscaped front lawn and backs on to the Grand River. Land

reth Cottage was the home of early Galt settler George Landreth, who was a miller by trade. This cottage is also believed to be the site of Liberty Cottage, which was occupied by Alexander Burnett, a prominent reformer in the 1837 rebellion which was lead by William Lyon Mackenzie. Landreth Cottage is a well preserved example of a mid-19th century Georgian vernacular stone cottage. Constructed of grey granite, it reflects the materials and methods of construction employed in this period of Galt's history. Typical of the Ontario vernacular style, this cottage features a hip roof, a symmetrical façade, a central main entrance highlighted by multi-paned sidelights and transom, as well as limestone quoins and voussoirs around the doors and windows.

Siebra Closing

For the past few months we have been working with Engineers and the cities Building, Compliance, Fire Prevention and Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee to make some upgrades required for future use.

As our lease was up for renewal for 3 years and with out a clear path forward we have made a difficult decision to close this location.

Being the caretakers for this beautiful building for the past 3 years has been amazing but it did come with many challenges as the heritage designation did not allow us the freedom to make some fundamental changes to the layout as well as the electrical power restrictions and other utilities.

We are very grateful to our staff and customers and every one who supported and championed our little shop.
Looking forward to the next chapter, we will definitley continue to participate in events and festivals as we truly love what we do.

Please keep checking back for updates as we will open one more time for a customer appreciation day for 50% off ice cream and tarts.
