The Coffee Society club is hosting our first virtual coffee cupping event for members to celebrate the holiday season and end of the semester! Please register at the link in bio to pick up your samples this week for the tasting ☕️☕️

To grow our palettes, the executive team meets to try coffee in a practice called cupping, and you're invited! We'll be going through the process and chatting about the tasting notes and coffee on Zoom Saturday Dec 18 from 11- 12 MST. If you can't make it, we will miss you, but don't worry! The Coffee Society is hosting Coffee Madness, a bracket made up of our members’ recommendations! We would love to give our members an opportunity to share the coffee they’ve been enjoying or simply try a sample of a coffee that the city’s been raving about. Submit your available favourites before Oct. 17 11:59pm at the link in bio! After the answers have been submitted, coffees will go head to head in a bracket style competition to determine the final two. Be sure to vote on the Coffee Madness bracket daily on IG from Oct. 18-22. Then log on live for a reveal, brewing, and tasting of the top two coffees on Saturday Oct. 23 from 5-6 pm MST on IG live! These top two coffees will then be distributed to club members who originally submitted a recommendation at the end of the month for home brewing.⠀

Welcome back, coffee lovers!☕️

The Coffee Society club is now officially open to accepting new members for the Fall 2021 - Winter 2022 school year!

As always, we’ve got a lot of enticing perks for new and existing members, such as:

The membership fee for this year will be the same as last year: $5.00. We are not planning to increase this fee due to restrictions on in-person club events.

We want to take this opportunity to spread awareness about an amazing non-profit organization in Calgary called BB4CK (Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids)!

BB4CK is a non-profit that is committed to ensuring that every kid in every school in our city has the lunch they need to flourish. They provide meals for over 4000 kids in Calgary to help alleviate the problem of food insecurity.

Our club believes that supporting youth is so important to the well being of our society especially during this pandemic where food insecurity and unemployment in households are exacerbated. Children experience an incredible amount of residual impact from these issues which is why we want to support BB4CK’s mission to feed hungry kids!

📚READING WEEK EVENTS📚

☕️Brewing Coffee at Home ☕️
Date & Time: Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm MST

🗺Location: Zoom (Link will be sent to members closer to date)

This event aims to introduce the many ways you can brew coffee in the comfort of your own home! With a focus on pourovers, we will be comparing the pros/cons of popular manual brewing devices, discuss various brewing styles, and share some helpful tips and tricks to help you brew better coffee at home. After this, we’ll go over some roast level considerations and how to adjust your recipe accordingly. Lastly, we will go over some recommended brewing equipment for making delicious coffee at home!

At the end of this event, we will be giving out a few raffle prizes that are sponsored by ✨Eight Ounce Coffee! ✨

☕️🍓🍫Coffee Tasting Event #1: Coffee Origins
Date & Time: Friday, February 19th from 1:00pm MST to 3:00pm MST

For this coffee tasting, we will be trying two specialty coffees from two different countries! This will be conducted as an online zoom event where we will provide you with the coffees (pre-ground for consistency) & zoom link prior to the event date. A pdf cupping manual will be provided with the package for you to follow during the session.

Coffee sample pickup location: Sought x Found Café (pickup dates TBA – we will contact attendees once coffees are dropped off).
