Nosh is a simple Yiddish word, but for many, it represents something much bigger. It’s a connection to family, tradition, culture, and the generations who have kept those traditions alive around the table.

We recently came across a fascinating article about Arthur’s Nosh Bar in Montreal and the incredible support it’s received from the city’s restaurant community. It’s a thoughtful reminder that words like nosh aren’t just part of our vocabulary, they’re part of our shared history and heritage.

If you have a few minutes, search for “Arthur’s Nosh Bar Montreal solidarity” or “Montreal restaurants show solidarity with Arthur’s Nosh Bar” and give it a read. It’s well worth your time.

Several Montreal restaurants over the weekend demonstrated their solidarity with Arthurs Nosh Bar in Saint-Henri after it was recently revealed that the Office Québécois de la Langue Française is doing

Did you know the word nosh comes from Yiddish, meaning "to snack" or "to eat"?

It's a word that's been part of Jewish food culture for generations, and it's at the centre of an interesting conversation happening in Montreal right now.

If you love deli culture as much as we do, it's a fascinating read.

Read the article here: https://montrealgazette.com/news/in-defence-of-nosh-language-watchdog-montreals-chefs-rally-around-arthurs/

A handful of Montreal restaurant owners and businesses have rallied around Arthurs Nosh Bar after Quebec's language watchdog took issue with the use of the Yiddish word "nosh."
