Happy Thanksgiving, Social People!

We’ll be closed Sunday & Monday to spend a little extra time with our families, but before we go, we want you to know just how thankful we are for you! You make Social Grounds the special little community it is, and we’re so grateful to be part of it.

The talented Artful Adventure is back at Social Grounds for a few more workshops this year, and we still have space available!

Whether you’re trying your hand at needle felting or getting creative with ceramics, it’s the perfect excuse to slow down, try something new, and sip on a cozy latte while you create. Join us for one workshop or all 3!

We feel incredibly fortunate to have such amazing staff — and even more fortunate that we’ve been able to keep many of them with us for as long as we have.

But sometimes our little birdies have to leave the nest.

Hillary is moving out of province, and our summer student Mia is off travelling before starting university. While we’re definitely sad to see them go, we couldn’t be more proud of both of them and excited to see where their next chapters take them.

And now… we’re excited to introduce two “new” faces to the Social Grounds team — Nicole & Sam! We already love having them around and are pretty confident you’re going to love them just as much as we do. So next time you’re in, say hello, introduce yourself and give our newest Social People a warm welcome.

And to Hillary & Mia — fly, little birdies, fly.

And just like the cake says… once a Social Person, always a Social Person. ❤️

Our Wellness Retreat is happening this Sunday… and we still have a few spots left!

WE’RE LOOKING FOR A KIDS CRAFT INSTRUCTOR!

Do you love crafts and working with kids? We’re looking for a warm, creative, crafty person to join us for two weekly kids classes!

Mondays: 30-min craft class for preschoolers
Friday afternoons: 1-hour craft class for elementary-aged kids

You’ll come up with a fun new craft each week and lead the kids through it!

Perfect for a retired teacher, creative educator, artist, or craft lover who enjoys making things fun for kids.

Must have experience working with children + a current police check.

Part-Time | 20–25 hours/week | Monday–Friday flexible hours between 7:30-5:00 plus
Occasional evening and weekend availability required for events.

This role is more than just making great coffee. You’ll be part of the day-to-day flow of our café and help make Social Grounds a place where people love to spend time.

What you’ll be doing:
• Making coffee, specialty drinks and other menu items
• Welcoming and serving customers with a friendly, positive attitude
• Food preparation and keeping our café stocked and organized
• Maintaining a clean and tidy workspace
• Completing daily cleaning and closing duties
• Assisting with evening and weekend events
• Helping with inventory and restocking
• Assisting with social media and other marketing tasks
• Jumping in wherever needed to help keep things running smoothly

We’re looking for someone who:
• Is genuinely friendly, outgoing and loves people
• Can multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced café
• Has a positive, can-do attitude
• Is reliable, responsible and works well independently
• Is comfortable pitching in wherever needed
• Enjoys being part of a small, community-focused business

Barista experience or restaurant management experience is a bonus, but not required. We’re happy to train the right person if you have the personality, work ethic and enthusiasm we’re looking for!
