paris, but this time it meant a little more. 🇫🇷🥐☕️
at the end of september, I took a break. a real break. one where I was able to fully separate from the day-to-day responsibilities, constant decision-making and mental load that comes with running a business.
this trip reminded me how important it is to completely step away from the day-to-day chaos every once in a while.
being a business owner can mean working 60+ days straight, 12+ hour days, constantly thinking ahead, fixing problems, creating, planning and making sure everything keeps moving. eventually, the fatigue catches up with you whether you want it to or not.
travel has honestly been on the backburner of my life for a while, but this year I’ve made a conscious effort to prioritize it again right alongside resting, slowing down and actually giving myself the space to reset.
when I started made by akb, one of the things I always envisioned was using travel as a way to take a real break, find new ideas and continue evolving the brand. this year, I’ve finally started honouring that vision a lot more.
running a business makes it so hard to catch your breath and sometimes even harder to give yourself permission to fully disconnect without feeling like you should be doing something or feeling guilty.
8 years ago, paris was one of the places that inspired so much of what we create and sell at made by akb today. going back, walking through the same streets, visiting pastry shops, eating, exploring and seeing everything with a different perspective felt full circle in the best way.
it reminded me why I started, how much has changed, and how much inspiration can come back when you finally give your mind some room to breathe.
saving this as a reminder that stepping away doesn’t mean you’re falling behind. sometimes it’s exactly what you need to come back with more energy, more ideas and a clearer vision of where you want to go next.
now it’s time to reset for a new month, new holidays + a very busy season ahead. catch up on emails and inquiries, get back into the storefront and dive right back into the day-to-day chaos… (that I still love of course)
until the next flight. 🛫
