he had the gift of preparing tasty healthy food inspired from her south american background. However she never found the time until she finished raising her three sons. Once her boys were pretty much grown up and out of the house, she decided and was encouraged in 1998 by a friend to prepare some of her foods and sell it a local farmers market. She had a small cooler, some fresh salsa, empanadas, determination and a dream. After her first day at the farmers market she was overwhelmed that she sold out quickly of her limited supply that she prepared. She called her son Kristofir to let him know how her day went & with excitement. 'I sold 50 pesos worth of food' ! To her that was a huge success and she knew in her heart she was onto something. Since that sunny morning Maria, has focused creating some of the freshest, wholesome, healthy Latin american inspired foods as she prepared always for family and friends. From the days of her sons and friends playing video games in the basement to post basketball games devouring Maria Eugenia's famous salsa and empanadas to starting small family business in Burlington.
50 Pesos signifies that everyone has to start somewhere with a dream and a lot of hard work through this we can pass along some awesome food for you to enjoy. Today Andy, Maria Eugenia's husband does a lot of the sales and paper work and helps in the kitchen (when permitted ;-) her son Kristofir is usually in the kitchen creating or selling at farmers markets or other places.
