Hi everyone. Stef here. I just wanted to say how overwhelmed I am with all the kind comments you all have been sending. My heart is full! Thank you so much! Karen or I will be posting updates as things happen over the next few weeks.
Had a hearing test today...much to Karen's surprise I have EXCELLENT hearing. Hahaha.
Looking forward to seeing all of you at the restaurant in the near future!

Hi Everyone, Karen here.

I want to give HUGE thank you, to everyone, for the texts, emails, messages and comments on Stef's original post. We are so blessed to live in this community. I will try and reply to each message...but there were a lot of them, but please know we see each and every one of them.

I just wanted to post an update about Stef. Today he went to see the oncologist, to get the lowdown on how the chemo will work and how it will affect him.

Next steps... He needs to see a special dentist because his jaw will get some raditation, and his teeth need to be in the best possible shape before hand...let's hope he doesn't need any teeth pulled. Then he needs to have facemask mold made of his face and neck for his radiation treatments. He will see an audiologist on Thursday, I am assuming because he has two lumps on his lymph nodes, which right now is affecting his one ear. He has some pain there. We hope that treatment will start before the end of this month and will go for 7 weeks, which puts us around the second week of November. There will be 5 days of radiation every week and 1 of those days will also be a chemo day.

The restaurant will remain open. Our hours may fluctuate depending on appointments, treatment and how Stef is feeling. Spencer and I will do our best to keep the doors open on regular days...but the hours may be shortened. Please know we appreciate you all and can't wait to see you.

Hello friends. Stef here. I don't post often but thought I should for this news.
Early last fall I had a little tickle in my throat. Didn't think much of it until it just wouldn't go away. Finally got to see a doctor at the Mallorytown clinic (who are fantastic by the way} He sent off a referral for an ear, nose and throat specialist. After about 7 months of not hearing anything, I went to see Dr. Redekopp in Mallorytown again. He sent another referral request and I heard back the next day. Went to Wi******er that same week to see Dr. Bastianelli who stuck a tube with a camera up my nose and down my throat. Good times. He then asked if I could go to Hawkesbury the next day so he could do a biopsy. Well, turns out I have tonsil cancer. My prognosis is good with a 90% survival and cure rate.
So, here's where you come in.
Over the next couple of months, I'll be having radiation and chemo. I will still be at the restaurant as much as possible. Our son Spencer, who is almost 19 has been working with me in the kitchen for a couple of years now will be doing most of the cooking. He's fantastic and knows his stuff. However, the orders may come out a little slower. Karen will do her best to help and to control the flow of the dining room so things don't get out of control. Please be patient. Come down for a great meal and to sit for a while and enjoy life. We appreciate your understanding and hope to see you in the near future.
