Our sale heifers typically don't see a lot of preferential treatment. They usually come from a paddock with their sisters, into the barn for a wash and trim, then back to the paddock until sale day. We don't like overfed cattle, don't buy them, and usually only sell them in the form of beef. These lovely ladies are our candidates for the 2026 Northern Select sale in Stettler in November, and they may be an exception. They are the easy fleshing type, and it may be tough to keep them from looking overfed by sale day.
Pure Country Lynn 7N is a daughter of Baldridge Badger and Dwajo Lynn 33H, while Pure Country Annie K is a daughter of Valley Blossom Executive 702L and Rivendale Annie K 39H. Both heifers are AI'd to the proven maternal sire, Sitz Continuity for Feb. 15th calves. After seeing several Continuity progeny and siblings in our travels in the last year, and a resurgence in his use with purebred breeders across North America due to his daughters proving their worth, we were convinced to use him as our sole AI sire this year.
These heifers have the lineage to produce beautiful daughters and masculine sons, with impeccable foot quality. Annie 32N is the first one in the video, Lynn 7N is the second one. Please feel free to come for a visit, tour the herd this fall and see the heifers prior to sale day. As always Mark Holowaychuk of OBI Livestock has been through them all and can field inquiries as well. Hope harvest is going well for everyone.
