We’re introducing the candidates, sharing a little about what they want for Brantford, and putting their waffle creations up for Brantford to vote for their favourites!

🥊 MEET ROSE SICOLI

🧇 Favourite Waffle Moment: For Elect Rose Sicoli waffles mean family. Her tiny but mighty mother-in-law absolutely loved them and could seemingly eat an unlimited number! Waffles became part of their one-on-one time together as well as bigger family gatherings. Rose's waffle is a combination of Italian classics -Nutella and Lady Fingers topped with vanilla ice cream & whipped cream.

🏙️ Her Brantford: Rose wants to make it easier for City staff to hire local and get things done by increasing their internal spending authority, while focusing on a cleaner, safer downtown that attracts more visitors.

🏠 Homelessness, Mental Health & Addiction: Rose sums up her view directly: “Brantford does not have a homelessness problem. It has a mental health and addiction problem.” She believes shelter beds and housing options exist, but that many people struggle to navigate the system or face barriers related to addiction and mental health. She wants Brantford to secure provincial support for a HART Hub, build on existing organizations and infrastructure such as SOAR and Cornerstone, expand treatment and transitional supports, and invest in CPTED.

💼 A little about Rose: She is well known for her work in real estate and is now in property management, acting as a liaison between the owner and roughly 80 tenants at 1 Wellington.

🥊 MEET DAN MCCREARY

🧇 Favourite Waffle Moment: Dan McCreary jokes that he doesn't think waffles had been invented when he was a kid! His food memories go back to his dad taking him to Wally's Roost — right next door to where Temptation Kitchen sits today. His waffle order? No fuss: Nutella, maple syrup, and whipped cream.

💼 A little about Dan: A former contractor, Dan also runs the Brantford Tourism Development Corporation, giving him experience connecting business, tourism and the City.

🏙️ His Brantford: Dan sums up his approach to downtown with one memorable line: “The first step to filling in a hole is to quit digging.” One of his priorities for small business is bringing more people to live in Brantford, creating a bigger local customer base and stronger community.
