If anything, it's doubled down on its commitment to being aggressively summer.

With temperatures in the greenhouse expected to reach potentially dangerous levels again today, we'll be closing the Café at Noon to help keep everyone safe and avoid becoming part of the menu ourselves. 😅

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our team does its best to work around the heat and, generally speaking, not melt.

☀️🔥 Heatstroke Warning — Please Take Care, Westman!
Even though the greenhouse is closed today, the current Westman weather is dangerously hot. Environment Canada has issued an Orange Level Heat Warning for our region, with temperatures exceeding 35°C and humidex values pushing into the mid‑40s. Overnight lows aren’t offering much relief either — staying around 18–22°C.
This is the kind of heat where hydration and shade aren’t optional — they’re survival.

🚨 Heatstroke is a medical emergency.

Watch for:
Headache
Hot, red skin
Dizziness or confusion
Nausea
Fainting

If these show up, call 911 immediately and move the person to a cool area while removing extra clothing and applying cold water or ice packs.

🌡️ How to stay safe today:
Drink water before you feel thirsty — and keep drinking.
Stay out of direct sun; seek shade or air‑conditioned spaces.
Wear loose, light‑colored clothing and a wide‑brimmed hat.
Take cool showers or baths if you’re overheating.
Check on vulnerable folks — older adults, people living alone, and anyone with health conditions.
Never leave people or pets in vehicles.
Schedule outdoor activities for the coolest parts of the day.
