Friends, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the permanent closure of our Secret Garden Café. 💔 This decision was not made lightly, as the café holds a special place in our journey.
Despite our best efforts, including experimenting with menus and striving to create a positive atmosphere, challenges hindered our ability to thrive as we had hoped. Sadly, the space will not offer any of our products going forward, but we've allowed the new management to use the name we gave the space.
The springtime energy in the greenhouse was a highlight, capturing the essence of what The Secret Garden could have been under different circumstances. However, this did not carry on throughout the year, with our staff feeling isolated and lonely in the depths of winter and in the hot days of summer.
Our downtown location quickly became the preferred choice for our community, thanks to its central location and broader menu offerings. Our expanded space, regular events, live music and longer hours made it feel more like home.
Our commitment at Chez Angela to local sourcing, reducing single-use items, and maintaining the artisan quality of our products made it challenging to replicate our offerings at The Secret Garden. We stayed true to our ethos, but with limited foot traffic it became clear that our dream of sharing our goods in the way we preferred was not sustainable in that space.
We're immensely grateful to our staff 💕 who worked tirelessly and represented us with pride, and to our customers, whose support and kindness have meant the world to us. Your presence turned The Secret Garden into a cherished gathering place, even if it was not meant to last.
The Secret Garden has been a significant chapter in our story, one of growth and community. As we continue to focus on our home at Chez Angela, we carry forward the lessons learned and the memories made. We extend our best wishes to the new management and express our deepest thanks to everyone who has been a part of this journey.
