As the season begins to wind down and the colours around us begin to change, I find myself reflecting on just how much has changed in my own life this year.
First and foremost, I want to thank each and every person who has supported me and my family — through your kindness, your prayers, your messages, your generosity, and simply by continuing to show up for us. I cannot adequately express how much that has meant to me.
Many of you have watched our little shop come alive throughout the summer. You have seen the lineups, the laughter, the familiar faces and the wonderful community that has supported us year after year. What you don’t necessarily see are the quiet winter months ahead, when the doors close but the responsibilities continue.
It is unlike me to reach out and ask for help. I have always believed in giving back, in working hard, and in being there for others whenever I could. But this year, I find myself in a position where I need to accept some of that kindness in return.
I am about to begin my second round of chemotherapy, and at this point, I simply do not know how my body will tolerate the treatments that lie ahead. My diagnosis and prognosis have changed many things, and there are days when the uncertainty is difficult to put into words.
Please know that any support you offer — whether it is for me personally or for my family — is an extension of the love and support that surrounds me. My family has been my greatest source of strength, and together we will continue to do our very best to serve and support our community for as long as we are able.
If you are able to contribute to my GoFundMe, I would be deeply grateful. If you cannot, please know that a prayer, a kind thought, a message, or simply sharing the link means just as much.
I will continue to keep you updated as I move through treatment and whatever the coming months may bring.
And perhaps it is fitting that this update comes as the leaves begin to change.
As the leaves change, so too has my optimism — but I am still here, still grateful, and still surrounded by so much love.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for walking this road with me. ❤️
With love and gratitude,
Cheryl
