Good Morning Barrie, Allandale and to all of our loyal customers;
Please know how difficult this is for me to write but it is something that must be done. NICKI’S Chicken & BBQ LTD. Will be closing its doors, June 29th, 2022 6:30 pm tonight or until our food supply runs out.
We have come to be such a big part of the Allandale community and the surrounding Barrie area in the past 3 years but especially in the last 15 months since the passing of our beloved son Carson Nicolle May 4th 2021. To say that a huge hole has been left in our hearts does not begin to describe what we have been feeling or going through yet we managed to reopen for the Graduating class of 2021 and have stayed open only to struggle though many many days and nights of sobbing which many of you have been witness to on many occasions. We struggled to keep the doors open through the remainder of all of the covid lockdowns and skyrocketing costs all while trying to keep our prices down for you and a smile on our faces. Well, this place was purchased as a FAMILY restaurant, to be run by our family while our children went to College and University as a retirement plan for Chad and something that kept us close to the Community. Unfortunately with the loss of Carson, our sons did not wish to be here any more, it hurt them too much and respectively so. To Chad and I, hiring others, NOT our family, didn’t make sense when it wasn't the intent. Coming in working early and long hours, trying to find ways to save money to not raise prices only meant longer hours for us and more hours at home cooking or doing meal prep as well. Beautiful family friends helped us out along the way but it was not the same. Soooo many of your kids came in and asked for jobs, but that wasn't what we wanted. We wanted our son back, our family whole and that wasn;t in the cards. We realised we hadn’t given ourselves the time we needed to grieve the loss of our son properly and we began to resent the very place that was HIS first job. NICKI’S and it was destroying us inside.
So after a very long time, days of crying and thinking out loud, we came to a decision to sell, made a few calls and then posted the shop.
