The production of trdelník has a long tradition in the Slovak town of Skalica on the Czech border. Count József Gvadányi, a retired Hungarian general, settled down in Skalica at the end of the 18th century. He employed a cook from Transylvania who brought the recipe for trdelník and improved it into the final pastry, that nowadays is known as Skalický trdelník.

BANCROFT people listen up! VEGAN version of Tunnel Twist today at Rockhound Gemboree- Curling Club. We use home made coconut milk instead of cow milk. Hurry, when we run out of coconut milk we are making non vegan once again. Watch for future offers, we may switch to vegan (except the cheese twist of course).
