July is Disability Pride Month is here. It's a time to celebrate disability, recognize their leadership and contributions, and reaffirm our commitment to communities where everyone belongs.
Every person should have the opportunity to live an ordinary and good life, by building relationships, contributing to their community, making their own choices, and being valued for their roles and strengths. Disability Pride Month is a celebration and a call to action in this vein. While we recognize the progress being made, we also know there is lots more work to do, to remove barriers and ensure people with intellectual disabilities are fully included in every part of community life.
We encourage you, in communities across Nova Scotia, to find a local flag raising, walk, and other events, and celebrate inclusion.
