One of the things I love most about owning a small business is the people you meet along the way.

We’re so excited to be collaborating with our friend Jillian of Beech Hideaway located at Pomquet Beach, in Antigonish

Jillian has created something really special with the getaway dome and a little shop filled with goodies for these beach days.

I really believe that when women in business support each other, share ideas and find ways to work together, everyone benefits.

It’s not always about competition. Sometimes it’s about saying, “How can we make this even better together?”

That’s what this collaboration is about.

Good food. A beautiful place. A unique experience. And two local women businesses working together to create something our community can enjoy.

Happy Birthday, Natalia! 🎉
We're so grateful to have you as part of the Fresh Food Matters family. Two years ago, you arrived in Canada from Ukraine with your family, speaking very little English. We even did your interview with a translator!
Since then, you've embraced Canada as your home, worked incredibly hard, taken English classes week after week, and become such an important part of our team and community. Your son, Sasha, has become part of our Fresh Food Matters family too.
Thank you for your kindness, your work ethic, your positive attitude, and for being such a strong woman and amazing mom. We're lucky to have you.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL = COMMUNITY CELEBRATION 🎉

One of the things we absolutely love about our community is how we celebrate our kids. ❤️

June 30 students make their way around town visiting local businesses and collecting treats as we all celebrate another school year wrapped up.

This year, Fresh Food Matters wants to make it extra fun with gift bags for the kids 🎁 and a little something for the grown-ups too… samples of our Fresh Food Matters favourites. 🥗

Wishing all students, teachers, and families an amazing summer — and thank you to all the local businesses that help make traditions like this so special.

Yesterday was a great reminder of why community matters so much. ❤️

I had the opportunity to spend the day at Fire Loch with an incredible group from the Antigonish Chamber of Commerce talking strategy, business growth, the future of our community… and making pizza along the way 🍕.

First, I’m incredibly grateful for my team at Fresh Food Matters. Opportunities like this are only possible because I have amazing people behind me holding things together while I step away.

I also want to recognize the many people in our community who volunteer their time sitting on committees, boards, and organizations working hard behind the scenes to help move our region forward.

I truly believe giving back isn’t always about writing a cheque.

Sometimes it’s simply about showing up, sharing ideas, and helping build something bigger than yourself.

Pretty grateful to be part of a community that cares about what comes next.

Big things happen when we build together. ❤️

Funny how things come full circle 💚

Many years ago, Fresh Food Matters began right here… standing at a local farmers’ market with one simple belief: Real food matters.

What started as a small local idea grew into our little restaurant, our amazing team, community of customers, and a business built around making fresh, real food accessible for busy people.

But over the past 8 months, we been quietly working on something NEW!

With encouragement from organizations supporting women entrepreneurs like WBE Canada, and with an opportunity to think bigger about where Fresh Food Matters could go next…
We decided to take two of our most loved products beyond our kitchen walls.

🌿 Honey Herb Dressing & Marinade Plus

And somehow, it feels fitting that this next chapter is bringing us right back to where so much of our journey began…
Local food. Local farmers. Local partnerships. Local community.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been proudly partnering with Locharber Growers for our ingredinets and fulfilling weekly farm box orders.

Starting this weekend you’ll find these two geat products at the Antigonish Farmers' Market Locharber Table. More locations to come!

And of course, both products are now available at Fresh Food Matters.

This feels like a pretty special milestone for us.

From farmers’ markets… to our own kitchen… and now back into the community again.

Thank you for supporting local businesses that continue to grow because of local people.
