Owners Tito and Cecilia DeLuca opened up the shop in 1979 when they could not find a place to enjoy their favourite pastime, eating ice cream. Since then it has become a popular landmark destination for all who visit from near and far. Children’s faces light up as they run through the front doors and see the dazzling displays of colours and huge selection of hand scooped and soft ice cream. The DeLuca's can whip up an old-fashioned milkshake or a banana split. Healthy eaters can indulge in a vast variety of frozen yogurt. In the summer months, you can sit beneath the gazebo overlooking the Navy Yard Park on the Detroit River or stroll through the park with your favourite treat. The business continues to be family run. Tito and Cecilia's son Justin, and wife Jen recently took over managment so that Tito and Cecilia could retire and pass on the family tradition.
